Daichi Kamiyama has had extensive training in cellular biology and neuroscience as a Ph.D. student in the Neuroscience program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During his postdoctoral research at the University of Miami, he pioneered the development of an activation sensor for the Rho family GTPase Cdc42 to visualize the endogenous activation pattern of Cdc42 during neural development in Drosophila. He joined the University of California San Francisco as an Assistant Professional Research Scientist to expand his research focus and training into the investigation of the mechanisms of dendritogenesis in Drosophila motoneurons using super-resolution microscopy techniques. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia, he is working to illuminate a novel paradigm for cell-cell interactions to establish neural networks in Drosophila.
