Sokviseth Moeng is currently involving in graduate program in the RNA Biology Laboratory of the department of Biomedical Science, Hallym University, Republic of Korea, and will be graduating in February 2021.
After winning the Global Korean Government Scholarship Program (GKS 2014), Moeng firstly came to South Korea in 2014 for one-year Korean language program, and then attended Hallym University in March 2015 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science. He successfully graduated in February 2019. Since August 2017, he has joined RNA biology laboratory as, initially, an undergraduate research student, and now as a graduate student. Here, he has been able to find opportunities to help him gain knowledge and advance his future career in the field of cancer research. He is currently working on projects mainly focusing on the functional study of microRNAs and their related target genes in cancer research. These works could be considered as novel mechanisms, which helps to shed light on the understanding and the clinical implications in cancer therapy.
More importantly, during his academic years in bachelor’s degree, Moeng had been awarded with three prestigious awards. He received the Excellent Academic Achievement Award and the Most Outstanding Academic Achievement Award (or The Minister of Education’s Award) from National Institute of International Education (NIIED) of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea in 2016 and 2018, respectively. Moreover, He received undergraduate degree with great honor along with the Presidential Award, given by the president of the university, in 2019.
