Recepten zijn er voorzien voor de voorbereiding van Vis Water, Embryo Medium met en zonder antibiotica, pronase voor dechorionating, fluorescerende dextranen, en methyl cellulose.

Een chimera is gedefinieerd als een organisme dat cellen van meer dan een dier bevat; mozaïeken zijn een soort van chimera waarbij cellen van meer dan een genotype worden gemengd, meestal wild-type en mutant. In de zebravis, kan chimeren gemakkelijk worden gemaakt door transplantatie van cellen van een donor embryo in een gastheer embryo op het juiste embryonale stadium. Gelabelde donor cellen worden gegenereerd door injectie van een geslacht marker, zoals een fluorescente kleurstof, in de een-cellig stadium embryo. Gelabelde donor cellen worden verwijderd uit donor embryo&#39;s en geïntroduceerd in ongelabelde gastheer embryo&#39;s met behulp van een olie-gecontroleerde glazen pipet gemonteerd op ofwel een verbinding of dissectiemicroscoop. Donor cellen kunnen in sommige gevallen worden gericht op een specifieke regio of weefsel van de zich ontwikkelende blastula of gastrulastadium gastheer embryo door te kiezen voor een transplantatie plaats in de ontvangende embryo op basis van gerenommeerde lot kaarten.
