Colite peuvent survenir des infections virales ou bactériennes, ischémique ou de troubles auto-immunes; colite ulcéreuse et plus particulièrement la variante du côlon de la maladie de Crohn - maladie de Crohn. La colite aiguë peuvent présenter des douleurs abdominales et une distension, une malabsorption, diarrhée, rectorragies et de mucus dans les selles. Nous commençons à comprendre les interactions complexes entre l&#39;environnement, la génétique et le dysfonctionnement de la barrière épithéliale inflammatoire modèles de maladies animales et l&#39;intestin de colite ont été essentielles pour faire progresser notre compréhension de cette maladie. Un modèle populaire implique complétant l&#39;eau potable des souris du sulfate de sodium à faible poids moléculaire Dextran (DSS), entraînant des dommages épithéliaux et une réponse robuste inflammatoires dans le côlon de plusieurs jours<sup&gt; 1</sup&gt;. Variantes de cette approche peut être utilisée pour modéliser une blessure aiguë, une blessure aiguë suivie de réparation, et des cycles répétés de DSS entrecoupées de récupération de modélisation des maladies inflammatoires chroniques<sup&gt; 2</sup&gt;. Après un seul traitement de quatre jours de DSS 3% dans l&#39;eau potable, les souris montrent des signes de colite aiguë, y compris la perte de poids, selles sanglantes, et la diarrhée. Les souris sont euthanasiés à la fin de la cure et à deux points autopsie disséqués sont traitées et peuvent être «Swiss laminé&quot;<sup&gt; 3</sup&gt; Pour permettre une analyse microscopique de la totalité du côlon ou infusée avec du formol comme «saucisses» pour permettre une analyse macroscopique. Tissu est ensuite inclus dans la paraffine, sectionnées et colorées pour examen histologique.
