Tekening bloed uit de vene is een handige manier om kleine hoeveelheden bloed te krijgen zonder verdoving. Als herhaald bemonstering noodzakelijk is, controleer regelgeving om ervoor te zorgen u niet al te veel bloed trekken uit een rat. Tekening bloed door hart-prik is een handige manier om grote hoeveelheden bloed te krijgen, maar dit is een terminal procedure. Het dier moet worden gedood aan het einde van het bloed te trekken. Tekening bloed van knaagdieren is noodzakelijk voor een groot aantal zowel in vitro als in vivo studies. Sites van het bloed trekt talrijk zijn in knaagdieren: retro-orbitale sinus, halsader, kaak ader, vene, hart. Elke techniek heeft zijn voor-en nadelen, en sommige zijn niet goedgekeurd niet meer in sommige landen (bijvoorbeeld retro-orbitale trekt in Nederland). Een bespreking van verschillende technieken voor het tekenen van het bloed zijn verkrijgbaar 1-3. Hier presenteren we twee technieken voor het tekenen van bloed van ratten, elk met hun specifieke toepassingen. Bloed trekken uit de vena ader, mits het goed wordt gedaan, induceert minimale leed bij dieren en vereist geen verdoving. Deze techniek maakt herhaalde trekt van kleine hoeveelheden bloed, zoals nodig is voor farmacokinetisch onderzoek 4,5, het bepalen van plasma chemie, of het bloedbeeld 6. Cardiale punctie staat de inzameling van grote hoeveelheden bloed van een enkel dier (tot 10 ml bloed kunnen worden getrokken uit een 150 g rat). Deze techniek is daarom erg nuttig als een terminal procedure bij het opstellen bloed uit de vena zou niet een voldoende grote steekproef. We maken gebruik van cardiale lekke band toen we nodig hebben voldoende hoeveelheden van serum van een specifieke stam van ratten aan T-lymfocyten lijnen groeien in vitro 4-9.
