For nylig har vi udviklet qPCR assays for den specifikke kvantificering af porCine adenovirus (PAdV) og bovin polyomaviruses (BPyV) som dyr fecal markører for forurening med følsomheder på 1-10 genom kopier pr reagensglas. I denne undersøgelse præsenterer vi den procedure, der skal følges for at identificere kilden til forurening i vandprøver ved hjælp af disse værktøjer. Som eksempel på repræsentative resultater, er en analyse af virus i grundvand præsentere højt indhold af nitrat vist. Påvisning af virus i lav eller moderat forurenet vand kræver, at koncentrationen af ​​virus fra mindst flere liter vand i en meget mindre volumen, en procedure, der normalt omfatter to koncentrering i serie.
