Muitas células eucarióticas pode detectar gradientes de sinais químicos em seus ambientes e migrar de acordo 1. Esta migração celular guiada é referido como quimiotaxia, que é essencial para várias células para realizar suas funções, tais como tráfico de células do sistema imunológico e padronização de células neuronais 2, 3. O organismo simples eucarióticas, Dictyostelium discoideum, exibe comportamentos quimiotático que são semelhantes aos de leucócitos, e D. discoideum é um sistema modelo para estudar a quimiotaxia chave eucarióticas. Como amebas de vida livre, D. discoideum células dividem-se em meio rico. Após a fome, as células entrar em um programa de desenvolvimento em que agregada através AMPc mediada por quimiotaxia para formar estruturas multicullular. Muitos componentes envolvidos na quimiotaxia ao AMPc foram identificados em D. discoideum. A ligação de AMPc a um GPCR (car1) induz a dissociação da heterotrimeric G-proteínas em Gγ e subunidades Gβγ 7, 9, 10.
