Создание функциональной сети кровеносных сосудов является неотъемлемой частью органогенеза, и необходим для оптимального функционирования органа. Например, в тимусе правильного формирования сосудистой и структурирование имеет важное значение для тимоцитов вступления в органе и зрелых Т-клеток с выходом на периферию. Пространственное расположение кровеносных сосудов в вилочковой железе зависит от сигналов от местных микросреды, а именно эпителиальных клеток тимуса (TEC).
