Hypertermi er et generelt begrep som brukes til å definere økningen i kjernen kroppstemperatur over normalen. Det er ofte brukt for å beskrive den økte kjernen kroppstemperatur som er observert i løpet av feber. Bruken av hypertermi som adjuvant har dukket opp som et lovende prosedyre for tumorregresjon innen kreft biologi. For dette formålet, er det viktigste krav til å ha pålitelige og ensartet oppvarming protokoller. Vi har utviklet en protokoll for hypertermi (hele kroppen) hos mus. I denne protokollen, er dyr utsettes for sykluser av hypertermi i 90 min etterfulgt av en hvileperiode på 15 minutter. I løpet av denne perioden mus har lett tilgang til mat og vann. Høy kroppstemperatur toppene i mus under første hypertermi eksponering sykluser er forhindret ved å immobilisere dyret. Tillegg er normalt saltvann administrert i første syklusene for å minimalisere virkningene av dehydrering. Denne protokollen kan simulere feber som forholdene i mus opptil 12-24 timer. Vi harbrukt 8-12 uker gamle BALB / Cj hunnmus å demonstrere protokollen.
