Ultraviolette Strahlung (UV)-Therapie wird manchmal als eine Behandlung für verschiedene häufigsten Hauterkrankungen, einschließlich Psoriasis, Akne und Ekzemen. Die Dosierung von UV-Licht wird nach einer individuellen Empfindlichkeit der Haut verschrieben. Um also die richtige Dosierung des UV-Lichts, die einem Patienten verabreichen zu schaffen, wird der Patient manchmal gesiebt, um eine minimale Erythem Dosis (MED), die die Menge an UV-Strahlung, die eine minimale Erythem produzieren (Sonnenbrand oder Rötung durch Schwellung verursacht wird, zu bestimmen von Kapillaren) der individuellen Haut innerhalb weniger Stunden nach der Exposition. Dieser Artikel beschreibt, wie minimal Erythema Dosis (MED) Tests durchzuführen. Derzeit gibt es keine einfache Möglichkeit, um eine geeignete UV-Dosis für die klinische und Forschungs-Zwecke ohne Durchführung formaler MED Tests bestimmen, erfordern Beobachtung Stunden nach dem Test oder informellen trial and error-Tests mit den Risiken der Unter-oder Überdosierung.
