Nuestros datos sugieren que la inserción de los canales en las vesículas lipídicas es relativamente aleatoria en orientaciones, y la eficacia de reconstitución es tan alta que no hay agregados de proteínas detectables se observaron en experimentos de fraccionamiento. Hemos utilizado el reconstituird canales para determinar los estados conformacionales de los canales en diferentes lípidos, registrar las actividades eléctricas de un pequeño número de canales incorporados en bicapas lipídicas planas, pantalla para ligandos específicos de conformación de una biblioteca de fagos, y apoyar el crecimiento de cristales 2D de los canales en las membranas.
