Memelilerde Eritropoez retikülosit oluşumuyla sonuçlanan enükleasyonu dramatik süreci ile sona eriyor. Enükleasyonu mekanizması henüz tam olarak açıklığa kavuşturulamamıştır. Mikroskopla enucleating erythroblasts içinde önemli protein ve yapıların lokalizasyonu okuyan karşılaşılan genel bir sorun enükleasyonunu geçiren hücrelerin yeterli sayıda gözlemlemek güçlüğüdür.
