real-time electrophysiology: using closed-loop protocols to probe neuronal dynamics and beyond

Omdat er geen commercieel beschikbare of open source software biedt alle functies die nodig zijn voor het efficiënt uitvoeren van de hier beschreven experimenten, een nieuwe software toolbox genaamd LCG 5 werd ontwikkeld, waarvan de modulaire structuur maximaliseert hergebruik van computercode en vergemakkelijkt de implementatie van nieuwe experimentele paradigma. Stimulatie golfvormen worden opgegeven met een compacte meta-beschrijving en volledige experimentele protocollen worden beschreven in de op tekst gebaseerde configuratiebestanden. Daarnaast LCG heeft een command-line interface die geschikt is voor de herhaling van proeven en automatisering van experimentele protocollen.

In het voorgaande hebben we beschreven hoe de software toolbox LCG gebruiken om de elektrofysiologische eigenschappen van L5 pyramidale cellen te karakteriseren en in vivo-achtige synaptische activiteit in een slice preparaat opnieuw.
