Ekstracellulære Blemmer (elbiler) er små, membran-avledet vesikler som finnes i kroppsvæsker som er svært involvert i celle-celle kommunikasjon og hjelper med å regulere et mangfoldig utvalg av biologiske prosesser. Analyse av elbiler bruker flowcytometri (FCM) har vært notorisk vanskelig på grunn av sin lille størrelse og mangel på diskrete populasjoner positive for markører av interesse. Metoder for EV analyse, mens betydelig forbedret de siste ti årene, er fortsatt et arbeid som pågår. For å analysere elektriske biler, har forskere benyttet forskjellige metoder, inkludert transmisjonselektronmikroskopi 17, scanning elektronmikroskopi 18,19, atomkraftmikroskopi, dynamisk lysspredning 20,21 og western-blotting 22,23. Mens FCM er metoden for valg for mange forskere 9,24 - 26 på grunn av sin store gjennomgangs evner, har analyse av elbiler bruker FCM værtnotorisk vanskelig på grunn av deres størrelse og mangel på adskilte positive populasjoner 27-32. Sammenlignet med analyser av celler, til den lille størrelsen av EVS resulterer i 1) mindre fluorescens avgitt på grunn av det mindre antall antigener per partikkel og 2) begrenset muligheten for post-flekk vasking, noe som er nødvendig for å redusere bakgrunnsfluorescens. Felles utfordringer blant forskere inkluderer signaler som kommer fra immunglobulinaggregater 27,28 og selv aggregering av antistoffer 29. Ekstracellulære Blemmer (elbiler) er små, membran-avledet vesikler som finnes i kroppsvæsker som er svært involvert i celle-celle kommunikasjon og hjelper med å regulere et mangfoldig utvalg av biologiske prosesser.
