Den aktuella studien bestäms förmågan hos CuO-NP att avlägsna PBW prioriterade föroreningar (inklusive arsenik, selen, vanadin och uran), och bedömt effekten av CuO-NP behandling på PBW cytotoxicitet. PBW uppsamlades från en aktiv anläggning ISR uran och utnyttjas för att bestämma effektiviteten av CuO-NP-behandling i prioritets avlägsnande av föroreningar. PBW cytotoxicitet före och efter CuO-NP behandling bedömdes också. PBW är en komplex geologisk (industri / miljö) blandningen och både National Institute of Environmental Health och Science (NIEHS) och byrån för giftiga ämnen och sjukdom Registry (ASTDR) lägger tyngdpunkten på att studera toxicitet av miljö relevanta blandningar inklusive blandningar eftersom de förekommer i naturen eller industriella miljöer, samt främja in vitro att prioritera kemikalier för ytterligare in vivo-testning17-19. Studier av kronisk, låg dos blandning exponeringar utmanande eftersom kronisk exponering för en låg blandning dos inte ger tydliga effekter, åtminstone inte på kort tid de flesta laboratoriestudier. På liknande sätt är de flesta in vitro-studier av kemiska blandningar exponera cellerna till en definierad labb tillverkad blandning av två eller flera metaller 20,21. Dessa studier ger grundinformation, men förenklade blandningen inte replikera komplexa antagonistiska och samverkande effekter som kan uppstå i en inföding, miljöprov, där komplett utbud av blandningskomponenter är närvarande. Målen för denna studie var att undersöka alternativa förorenande flyttprocesser för PBW och att utvärdera effekten av (CuO-NP) behandling på PBW cytotoxicitet med hjälp av odlade humanceller. Resultaten skulle kunna gynna uranindustrin genom utveckling av effektivare eller miljövänliga metoder för avlägsnande av föroreningar. removal of trace elements by cupric oxide nanoparticles from uranium in situ recovery bleed water and its effect on cell viability

In situ återvinning (ISR) är den dominerande metoden för utvinning av uran i USA. Under ISR, är uran lakas ut från en malmkropp och ut genom jonbyte. Den erhållna produktionen avtappnings vatten (pbw) innehåller föroreningar, såsom arsenik och andra tungmetaller. Prover av PBW från en aktiv anläggning ISR uran behandlades med kopparoxid nanopartiklar (CuO-NPS). CuO-NP behandling av PBW minskat prioriterade föroreningar, bland annat arsenik, selen, uran och vanadin. Obehandlade och CuO-NP behandlade PBW användes som den vätskeformiga komponenten i celltillväxtmedium och förändringar i viabilitet bestämdes genom MTT (3- (4,5-dimetyltiazol-2-yl) -2,5-difenyltetrazoliumbromid) -analysen i human embryonal njure (HEK 293) och humant hepatocellulärt karcinom (Hep G2) celler. CuO-NP behandling var associerad med förbättrad HEK och HEP cellviabiliteten. Begränsningar av denna metod innefattar utspädning av PBW av tillväxtmediakomponenter och under osmoltionalitet justering samt nödvändig pH-justering. Denna metod är begränsad i sin bredare sammanhang på grund av utspädningseffekter och förändringar i pH för PBW som traditionellt lätt surt men; denna metod kan ha en bredare användning bedömning CuO-NP behandling i mer neutrala vatten.

PBW komponentkoncentrationer och pH i obehandlat och CuO-NP-behandlade PBW redovisas i tabell 1. Martinson och Reddy (2009), rapporterade att den punkt noll ansvarar för CuO-NP uppskattas till 9,4 ± 0,4. Med tanke på att pH-värdet hos PBW var 7,2-7,4, under dessa förhållanden, donerar vatten protoner till CuO-NP, vilket gör att nanopartikelytan som skall positivt laddad möjliggör adsorption av negativt laddade ämnen.
