Verwacht wordt dat grootschalige groei installaties worden geïntegreerd industriële afvalstromen zoals industriële rookgas teneinde productiekosten te minimaliseren en tegelijkertijd verschaffen herstel van het milieu. quantification of heavy metals and other inorganic contaminants on the productivity of microalgae

Toenemende vraag naar hernieuwbare brandstoffen heeft onderzoekers het onderzoek naar de haalbaarheid van alternatieve grondstoffen, zoals microalgen. Inherente voordelen omvatten hoge potentiële opbrengst, het gebruik van niet-landbouwgrond en de integratie met afvalstromen. Microalgen werden fotobioreactoren verlicht 984 umol m -2 s -1 gekweekt en gehouden op pH 7 in een groei media vervuild met anorganische verontreinigingen op niveaus verwacht op basis van de samenstelling bij commerciële steenkool rookgasinstallaties. Verontreinigingen in de biomassa en het medium aan het einde van een 7 dagen groeiperiode werden analytisch gekwantificeerd door koude damp-atomaire absorptiespectrometrie voor Hg en door inductief gekoppeld plasma massa spectrometrie voor As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Sn, V en Zn. Resultaten tonen N. salina is een gevoelige stam multi-metal omgeving met een statistische vermindering van biomassa yieldwith de invoering van deze verontreinigingen. De hier gepresenteerde technieken zijn geschikt voor het kwantificeren algengroei en het bepalen van het lot van anorganische verontreinigingen.
