Frühen Übergangsmetallcarbide (TMCs) sind kostengünstige, erde reichen Materialien, die eine hohe thermische und elektrochemische Stabilität sowie einzigartige katalytische Aktivitäten aufweisen. 1-3 Insbesondere Wolframcarbid (WC) und Molybdäncarbid (Mo 2 C) wurde ausgiebig auf ihre katalytische Ähnlichkeiten mit der Platingruppenmetalle (PGM). 4,5 Aufgrund dieser günstigen Eigenschaften studiert haben TMCs als Kandidaten für den Ersatz teurer PGM-Katalysatoren in den Schwellen erneuerbaren Energietechnologien, wie beispielsweise die Umwandlung von Biomasse, Brennstoffzellen identifiziert worden, und Elektrolyseuren. 6,7 Um die katalytische Aktivität zu maximieren, werden handelsübliche Katalysatoren fast immer als ultra Nanopartikel (Durchmesser &lt;10 nm) auf einem Träger mit hoher Oberfläche dispergiert sind, wie beispielsweise Ruß formuliert. 8 ist die Synthese TMCS erfordert jedoch Temperaturen von mehr als ~ 700 ° C. Die hier vorgestellte Methode verwendet einen Drei-Stufen-Protokoll, um TMC und TMN-Nanopartikel zu synthetisieren. Im ersten Schritt wird eine Umkehrmikroemulsion (RME) zu beschichten frühes Übergangsmetall-Oxid (TMO) NPs in Nanokugeln aus Glas verwendet. Die Emulsion wird durch Dispergieren von Wassertröpfchen in einem nicht-polaren Medium unter Verwendung einer kommerziellen nichtionischen Tensids hergestellt. Die Kieselsäure eingekapselten TMO-Nanopartikel werden dann entweder Aufkohlen oder nitridizing Wärmebehandlungen unterworfen. Ein Reverse-Mikroemulsion wird verwendet, um mono oder Bimetall frühes Übergangsmetall-Nanopartikel in mikroporösen Silikatschalen kapseln.
