<html> De meeste studies die zich richten op organische verontreinigingen geassocieerd met plastic pellets hebben gebaseerd op klassieke extractiemethoden van geadsorbeerde chemicaliën. De wereldwijde productie van kunststoffen stijgt voortdurend sinds de jaren 1950 tot 311 miljoen ton in 2014, met ongeveer 40% in verpakkingen 1 . Tegelijkertijd stijgen de toenemende hoeveelheden van deze materialen in het milieu, wat een ernstige bedreiging voor de ecosystemen kan veroorzaken 2 . Hoewel in de jaren zeventig al is gerapporteerd, is het voorbije decennium al meer aandacht besteed aan het optreden van plastic puin in het mariene milieu. Vooral microplastics, plastic fragmenten met een diameter van ≤ 5 mm, worden nu herkend als een van de belangrijkste kwesties voor mariene waterkwaliteit 3 . Plastische harspellets zijn kleine korrels in het algemeen in de vorm van een cilinder of een schijf en met een diameter van een paar mm ( bijvoorbeeld 2 tot 5 mm) 4 , 5 . Ze vallen in de categorie microplastica. Deze plastic korrels zijnIndustrieel grondstof waarvan de eindproductie door middel van hersmelting en gietvorming bij hoge temperatuur 6 vervaardigd wordt. Ze kunnen onbedoeld worden vrijgegeven aan het milieu tijdens fabricage en transport. Bijvoorbeeld, ze kunnen direct in de oceaan worden geïntroduceerd door toevallige stortingen tijdens verzending 4 , 7 , 8 . Ze kunnen van land tot oceaan worden vervoerd door oppervlakteafloop, stromen en rivieren. Vanwege hun ecologische persistentie worden plastic pellets in de oceanen verspreid en op stranden over de hele wereld gevonden 4 . Ze kunnen mariene organismen negatief beïnvloeden en kunnen de voedselketen binnengaan, waar hun effecten onvoorspelbaar zijn 6 , 7 . Bovendien hebben verschillende studies de aanwezigheid van milieuverontreinigingen geadsorbeerd op plastic pellets die in een coasta zijn verzameld, onthuldL milieu, die fungeren als vector van deze potentieel toxische chemicaliën 4 , 9 , 10 . In feite zijn er laboratorium bewijsmateriaal dat suggereert dat deze chemicaliën kunnen bioaccumuleren in weefsels van organismen nadat ze zijn vrijgelaten uit ingevoerde plastic fragmenten 11 , 12 . Om de gevaren die verband houden met het optreden van plastic pellets in het mariene milieu beter te beoordelen, is het nodig methodes te ontwikkelen die georiënteerde organische verontreinigingen kunnen bepalen. Een belangrijke stap is de extractie van de chemicaliën uit de plastic matrices, die heterogene fysisch-chemische eigenschappen kunnen voordoen, afhankelijk van het polymeer type, het afbraakstadium en de pre-behandelingen. De meeste van de in de literatuur gerapporteerde onderzoeken gebruiken maceratie- of Soxhlet-technieken 4 ,5 , 6 , 9 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , die oplosmiddel en / of tijdrovend zijn. Met betrekking tot de groeiende belangstelling voor dit probleem, moeten alternatieven worden ontwikkeld voor een snellere evaluatie van organische verontreinigingen geadsorbeerd op plastic stukken. Daarnaast geeft plastic chemische analyse informatie over de chemische structuur van de microplastica. Als gevolg hiervan kunnen de overheersende typen polymeren en copolymeren die aanwezig zijn in het milieu worden geëvalueerd. Hoewel plastic fragmenten gewoonlijk gemaakt zijn van polyethyleen (PE) en polypropyleen (PP) 5 , kunnen sommige steekproeflocaties een bepaald profiel presenteren waar andere categorieën significant vertegenwoordigd zijn ( bijv. Ethyleen / vinylacetaat copolymeerEn polystyreen (PS)). FT-IR spectroscopie is een betrouwbare en gebruiksvriendelijke techniek voor polymeeridentificatie die vaak gebruikt wordt om microplastics 19 , 20 te identificeren. Het hoofddoel van het huidige werk is om een ​​snelle en eenvoudige optie te bieden voor het onttrekken van OCP&#39;s en verwante verbindingen uit plastic pellets door middel van een PFE. Het ontwerp van het protocol omvat echter alle stappen die leiden tot de bepaling van gesorbeerde OCP&#39;s, van de bemonstering van de harspellets tot de analyse van de verbindingen. De werkwijze voor het identificeren van het plastic type wordt ook beschreven. De ontwikkelde methodologie richt zich op 11 OCP&#39;s en aanverwante verbindingen: i) DDT (2,4&#39;- en 4,4&#39;-dichloordifenyltrichloorethaan) en zijn twee hoofdmetabolieten DDE (2,4&#39;- en 4,4&#39;-dichloordifenyldichloorethyleen) en DDD (2,4&#39;- en 4,4&#39;-dichloordifenyldichloorethaan); Ii) het isomeer gamma-hexachloorcyclohexaan (y-HCH) als hoofdbestanddeel oF het pesticide lindaan en de twee isomeren a-HCH en P-HCH die tijdens de productie 15 vrijkomen; Iii) en de twee biologisch actieve isomeren endosulfan I (Endo I) en II (Endo II) aanwezig in het technische endosulfan. De bestudeerde bestrijdingsmiddelen zijn brede spectrum insecticiden, chemisch stabiel, hydrofoob en geclassificeerd als persistente organische verontreinigende stoffen (POP&#39;s) door het Verdrag van Stockholm 21 .

Vanwege hun ecologische persistentie, worden ze wijd verspreid in de oceanen en op stranden over de hele wereld. Ze kunnen fungeren als een vector van potentieel toxische organische verbindingen ( bijv. Polychloorbifenylen) en kunnen daarom ook Negatieve effecten op mariene organismen. Hun mogelijke impact langs de voedselketen is nog niet goed begrepen. Om de gevaren in verband met het voorkomen van plastic pellets in het mariene milieu te beoordelen, is het nodig methodologieën te ontwikkelen die het mogelijk maken om snel te bepalen van de bijbehorende organische verontreinigingsniveaus. Het onderhavige protocol beschrijft de verschillende stappen die nodig zijn voor het bemonsteren van harspellets, het analyseren van geadsorbeerde organochloorpesticiden (OCP&#39;s) en het identificeren van het plastic type. De nadruk ligt opDe extractie van OCP&#39;s uit plastic pellets door middel van een drukvloeibare extractor (PFE) en op de polymeercemische analyse die Fourier Transform-InfraRed (FT-IR) spectroscopie toepast. De ontwikkelde methodologie richt zich op 11 OCP&#39;s en verwante verbindingen, waaronder dichloordifenyltrichloorethaan (DDT) en zijn twee hoofdmetabolieten, lindaan en twee productie-isomeren, evenals de twee biologisch actieve isomeren van technisch endosulfan. Dit protocol vormt een eenvoudig en snel alternatief voor bestaande methodologie voor het evalueren van de concentratie van organische verontreinigingen geadsorbeerd op plastic stukken.
