Platin nanopartikler med en størrelse på 7 nm blev syntetiseret via reduktion af ammonium hexachloroplatinate (IV) og ammonium tetrachloroplatinate (II) bruge poly (vinylpyrrolidon) (PVP) som en ligand og ethylenglycol som opløsningsmiddel og reduktionsmiddel27 . Den samlesæt af kolloid nanopartikler er af interesse, fordi det giver mulighed for at få adgang til kollektive fysiske egenskaber af enkelte nanopartikler11. En af de mest effektive metoder til samlesæt anvendes i applikationer, praktisk enhed-skala er selv-organisering af nanopartikler på et underlag ved fordampning af en flygtige opløsningsmidler6,7,8, 9 , 10 , 11. denne opløsningsmiddel fordampning metode er en nonequilibrium proces, som er i høj grad påvirket af kinetic faktorer såsom fordampning sats og ændringer i nanopartikel-substrat interaktioner. Men da det er vanskeligt at vurdere og styre de kinetiske faktorer, den mekanistiske forståelse af nanopartikel samlesæt af opløsningsmiddel fordampning er ikke fuldt modne. Selvom i situ X-ray spredning undersøgelser har skaffet ensemble-gennemsnit information af nonequilibrium nanopartikel behandle samlesæt12,13,14, denne teknik kan ikke bestemme bevægelse af enkelte nanopartikler og deres tilknytning til det overordnede forløb let kan tilgås.
Væske-celle TEM er en spirende værktøj til sporing af bane af enkelte nanopartikler, gør det muligt for os at forstå uensartethed af nanopartikel bevægelser og deres bidrag til ensemble adfærd15,16, 17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25, 26. Vi har tidligere brugt væske-celle TEM til at spore bevægelsen af enkelte nanopartikler i løbet af opløsningsmiddel fordampning, viser, at flytning af opløsningsmiddel grænsen er en vigtig drivkraft for inducerende nanopartikel samlesæt på et substrat18 , 19. heri, vi introducere eksperimenter hvor vi kan observere processen med nanopartikel samlesæt med væske-celle TEM. Først, vi leverer protokoller for syntesen af platin og føre selenide nanopartikler, før indførelse af fabrikation af væske-celler for TEM og hvordan man indlæse nanopartikler i væske-celle. Som repræsentative resultater viser vi øjebliksbillede billeder fra TEM film af nanopartikel samlesæt drevet af opløsningsmiddel tørring. Ved at spore individuelle partikler i disse film, kan vi forstå de detaljerede mekanismer af opløsningsmiddel-tørring-medieret samlesæt på en enkelt nanopartikel niveau. Under samlesæt, følge platin nanopartikler i vinduet silicon nitride primært bevægelse af det fordampende solvent front på grund af de stærke kapillær kræfterne på det tynde opløsningsmiddel lag. Lignende fænomener blev også observeret til andre nanopartikler (bly selenide) og substrater (silicium), der angiver at væskefronten kapillær kraft er en vigtig faktor i partikel migration nær et substrat.

liquid-cell transmission electron microscopy for tracking self-assembly of nanoparticles

Tørring en nanopartikel spredning er en alsidig måde at skabe selvsamlede strukturer af nanopartikler, men mekanismen i denne proces er ikke fuldt forstået. Vi har sporet baner af enkelte nanopartikler ved hjælp af væske-celle transmissions elektronmikroskopi (TEM) for at efterforske mekanismen af montage-processen. Heri, præsenterer vi de protokoller, der bruges til væske-celle TEM undersøgelser af den samlesæt mekanisme. Først, vi introducere de detaljerede syntetiske protokoller, der bruges til at producere ensartet størrelse platinum og føre selenide nanopartikler. Dernæst præsenterer vi de microfabrication processer, der anvendes til at producere flydende celler med silicon nitride eller silicium windows og derefter beskrive lastning og imaging procedurer af væske-celle TEM teknik. Flere noter er medtaget for at give nyttige tips for hele processen, herunder hvordan man skal håndtere de skrøbelige celle vinduer.
