תאים חיסוניים להשפיע על צמיחת הגידול וההתפתחות בכל שלבי carcinogenesis הינם מרכיבים חשובים של microenvironment הגידול. ראוי לציין, היא עכשיו מבוססת היטב כי לחדור מערכת החיסון האנושית גידולים יכולים לתאם עם הפרוגנוזה והתגובה לטיפול. הניתוח של לחדור המערכת החיסונית ב microenvironment הגידול הפך לאתגר מרכזי עבור הסיווג של המטופלים ואת התגובה לטיפול.
