المينا العيوب الناتجة عن الظروف البيئية وسبل الحياة من شواغل الصحة العامة بسبب انتشارها عالية. هذه العيوب نتيجة لتغير نشاط الخلايا المسؤولة عن توليف المينا المسمى أميلوبلاستس، الذي يقدم في هيئة المينا. أثناء أميلوجينيسيس، اتبع أميلوبلاستس تسلسل محددة ودقيقة للأحداث من الانتشار، والتمايز، والموت. فأر باستمرار تزايد القواطع نموذج تجريبي مناسب لدراسة مراحل النشاط والتمايز أميلوبلاست في الظروف الفسيولوجية والمرضية. وهنا يصف لنا طريقة موثوقة ومتسقة للصغير-تشريح الجهاز المينا في الفئران المعرضة إلى سميات البيئية.
