In situ le brûlage du pétrole brut déversé sur l’eau est une méthode de réponse de déversement d’hydrocarbures en milieu marin qui supprime les hydrocarbures déversés sur la surface de l’eau de brûler et de le convertir à la suie et les gaz de combustion. Cette méthode a été appliquée avec succès au cours de l’Exxon Valdez1 et les déversements de pétrole Deepwater Horizon2 et est régulièrement mentionnée comme une méthode de réponse déversement de pétrole potentielle pour l’Arctique3,4,5 ,6. Deux des principaux paramètres qui déterminent si in situ brûler de l’huile sera réussie comme une méthode de réponse de déversement sont l’inflammabilité et l’efficacité de combustion de l’huile. Le premier paramètre, inflammabilité, décrit la facilité avec laquelle un combustible peut être enflammé et peut conduire à la flamme étalée sur la surface de carburant à provoquer un incendie entièrement développé. Le deuxième paramètre, brûlant d’efficacité, exprime la quantité d’huile (en % du poids) qui est effectivement sorti de la surface de l’eau par le feu. Il convient donc de comprendre l’inflammabilité et l’efficacité de combustion attendue des différents pétroles bruts sous in situ des conditions de combustion.
L’allumage du pétrole slicks sur l’eau in situ burning fins est couramment adressées comme un problème pratique, avec discussion qualitative sur les systèmes d’allumage5,7,8,9. L’approche pratique à l’allumage de déversé huile comme un problème binaire, et étiquetage d’huiles « inflammable » ou « non inflammables » (p. ex. Brandvik, Fritt-Rasmussen, et al. 10) est cependant incorrect d’un point de vue fondamental. En théorie, n’importe quel carburant peut s’enflammer en fonction d’une source d’allumage approprié. Il convient donc de quantifier les exigences d’allumage pour un large éventail de types différents de pétrole brut afin de mieux comprendre les propriétés d’un pétrole brut qui serait étiquetez-le comme « non inflammables ». À cet effet, la méthode peut servir à étudier le temps de retard d’allumage d’une huile en fonction du flux thermique incident, le flux de chaleur critique de l’huile et son inertie thermique, c'est-à-dire Comment difficile c’est de chauffer de l’huile.
Dans une étude précédente, nous avons postulé que le paramètre principal qui régit l’efficacité de combustion est la rétroaction de la chaleur à la surface de carburant11, qui est une fonction du diamètre de la piscine. La théorie explique l’effet de la taille de la piscine apparente de l’efficacité de combustion basée sur des études de laboratoire rapports faible brûlure efficacités (32-80 %)8,12,13 et études à grande échelle (piscine diamètre ≥ 2 m) déclaration forte brûlure efficacité (90 à 99 %)14,15,16. La méthode décrite ci-après a été conçue pour tester la théorie proposée. En soumettant des expériences en laboratoire à petite échelle un flux constant de chaleur externes, de la rétroaction de chaleur plus élevée pour les feux de piscine à grande échelle peut être simulée dans des conditions contrôlées en laboratoire. À ce titre, la méthode développée permet d’étudier l’efficacité de combustion efficacement en fonction du diamètre en faisant varier le flux de chaleur externe.
En plus d’un flux de chaleur externe pour simuler la plus grande échelle de in situ fonction de gravure des opérations, la configurations expérimentales refroidissement de la marée noire par un flux d’eau froide, simulant l’effet de refroidissement de la mer actuelle. La méthode discutée est en outre compatible avec frais et altérés des pétroles bruts. L’altération du pétrole brut décrit le processus physique et chimique qui affectent un pétrole brut une fois qu’il a été renversé sur l’eau, comme les pertes de ses composants volatils et le mélange avec de l’eau aux émulsions eau-dans-huile de forme (par exemple, AMAP17). Évaporation et émulsification comptent parmi les processus d’altération principaux qui influent sur l’inflammabilité des pétroles bruts18 et protocoles permettant de simuler ces processus d’altération sont donc inclus dans la méthode discutée.
Ici, nous présentons une méthode de laboratoire roman qui détermine l’inflammabilité et l’efficacité brûlante du pétrole brut dans des conditions qui simulent en situ burning opérations sur mer. Des études antérieures sur l’inflammabilité et l’efficacité brûlante de pétroles bruts en vedette des méthodes comparables et différents. L’inflammabilité des pétroles bruts frais et patinés en fonction d’un flux de chaleur externe a été étudiée sur l’eau19 et sous des températures arctiques20. Études d’efficacité brûlant généralement se concentrent sur différents types de produits frais et tanné des huiles brutes et des conditions environnementales à l’échelle fixe (p. ex., Fritt-Rasmussen, et al. 8Bech, Sveum, et al. 21). une étude récente sur la combustion des huiles brutes contenues par les éleveurs chimiques est, à la connaissance des auteurs, le premier à étudier l’efficacité de combustion pour petit, moyen, et des expériences à grande échelle en vertu de conditions similaires13. Expériences à grande échelle sont toutefois pas disponibles pour des études paramétriques en raison de la quantité considérable de temps et les ressources nécessaires pour mener de telles expériences. Le principal avantage de la méthode présentée sur les études mentionnées précédemment, c’est qu’elle permet en même temps étudier les deux l’inflammabilité et la gravure efficacité de pétrole brut dans des conditions semi réalistes. La combinaison d’étudier ces deux paramètres pour les pétroles bruts en fonction des types d’huiles différentes et le diamètre de la piscine (simulée) grâce à des expériences reproductibles facilement était précédemment irréalisable dans la pratique.

experimental procedure for laboratory studies of in situ burning : flammability and burning efficiency of crude oil

Est présente une nouvelle méthode pour l’étude simultanée de l’inflammabilité et l’efficacité brûlante du pétrole frais et altéré par le biais de deux configurations de laboratoire expérimental. Les expériences sont facilement reproductibles par rapport aux expériences opérationnelles (piscine diamètre ≥ 2 m), tandis que toujours mettant en vedette tout à fait réaliste en situ brûlant des conditions du pétrole brut sur l’eau. Conditions expérimentales comprennent un écoulement eau sous-poil qui refroidit la marée noire et un flux de chaleur externe (jusqu'à 50 kW/m2) qui simule la rétroaction de chaleur plus élevée à la surface de combustible dans les feux de piscine pour le pétrole brut échelle opérationnelle. Ces conditions permettent une étude de laboratoire de l’efficacité de combustion de pétrole brut des feux de piscine qui sont équivalents aux expériences opérationnelles. La méthode fournit également des données quantitatives concernant les prescriptions pour l’allumage des pétroles bruts en ce qui concerne le flux de chaleur critique, temps de retard d’allumage en fonction de l’inertie thermique du flux thermique incident et la température de surface après son allumage. Ce type de données peut servir à déterminer la force nécessaire et la durée d’une source d’allumage pour allumer un certain type de pétrole brut frais ou altéré. La principale limite de la méthode est que l’effet de refroidissement de l’eau coulant sous couche la combustion du pétrole comme une fonction du flux de chaleur externe n’a pas été entièrement quantifiée. Les résultats expérimentaux ont montré clairement que le sous-poil qui coule de l’eau améliore-t-il la représentativité de cette configuration est des conditions de combustion sur place , mais dans quelle mesure cette représentation exacte est actuellement incertain. La méthode dispose néanmoins le plus réaliste en situ brûlant des conditions de laboratoire actuellement disponibles pour étudier simultanément l’inflammabilité et la gravure de l’efficacité du pétrole brut sur l’eau.

La figure 5 montre la courbe de l’évaporation d’un pétrole brut léger qui a été évaporée pendant plusieurs jours à une perte de 30 % en poids à l’aide de la méthode décrite à l’étape 2. La figure montre clairement qu’après le premier jour de l’altération par évaporation (19 h), le taux d’évaporation est sensiblement réduit, qui permet d’obtenir des pauses comme mentionné dans le protocole.
