Bland svavel-utrustade byggstenar, symmetrisk, multidentate polycykliska aromatiska byggstenar som 2,3,6,7,10,11-triphenylene hexathiol (HTT)9,11,12,13 , 14 inte bara leverera starkt polariserbara π-elektronerna, men också erbjuda tydliga fördelar när det gäller ram design och syntes. En stor utmaning i montering thiol-utrustade metall orangic framework (MOF) material är rotad i syntesen av organiska linker molekylerna. I ett klassiskt protokoll hade tiolgrupp härledas från gruppen fenol med Newman-Kwart omordningen av O- aryl tiokarbamat föregångare16,17,18. Denna metod innebär dock genomarbetade förberedande steg för såväl fenol föregångare molekyl som potentiella komplikationer av en hög temperatur fasta fasen omvandling. Ett annat sätt att göra tioler använder reduktiv dealkylering av tioetrar under de hårda villkor för, till exempel natrium metal i flytande ammoniak19,20,21,22, och är inte kompatibel med carboxyl och många andra givare funktioner för nätverket byggande.
I jämförelse, det protokoll som presenteras här har flera fördelar: säkerhet, bekvämlighet, kostnadseffektivitet och kompatibilitet med andra funktionella grupper (t.ex., carbonitrile och pyridinyl). Genom att kraftfullt värma den generellt billig aromatiska halide (t.ex., hexabromotriphenylene) och thiomethoxide anjon, den thiolate anjonen genererades (via metyl thioether mellanprodukten) och sedan acylated att ge stabil och lätt att hantera thioester produkt-all i en kruka.
Vi kommer också att beskriva ett förfarande för att utnyttja thioester molekylerna som den maskerade formen av de thiol linkers för åtkomst till en enda-crystalline halvledande och porösa metal-dithiolene nätverket. Till skillnad från de mycket reaktiva fristående tioler, som tenderar att förmultna och komplicera kristallisation av metall-thiolate öppna ramar, thioester kan vara lätt kluvna (t.ex. genom NaOH eller etylendiamin) i situ att tillhandahålla den thiol arter, som serverar att mildra reaktionen mellan merkaptan enheterna och metall centers, och följaktligen förbättra kristallisation.
Detta protokoll för att förbereda thiol/thioester har inte använts av andra grupper för det framväxande området av metall-svavel ramar, även om nukleofil dealkylations av alkyl aryl tioetrar av thiolate anjoner har redan dokumenterats väl av organiska kemister23,24,25,26. Genom att visa upp denna effektiva syntetiska metoden för thioesters och deras användning för att underlätta kristallisation av metall-svavel nätverk, vi vill främja ytterligare ansträngningar för att överbrygga den intellektuella och praktiska klyftan mellan syntetisk organisk kemi och fasta tillståndets kemi, för att bidra till en snabb och hälsosam utveckling av porös ramar.

Vi presenterar en metod för att förbereda thioester molekyler som den maskerade formen av de thiol linkers och deras utnyttjande för åtkomst till ett nätverk med halvledande och porösa metal-dithiolene i tillståndet för mycket beställda enda kristallina. Till skillnad från de mycket reaktiva fristående tioler, som tenderar att förmultna och komplicera kristallisation av metall-thiolate öppna ramar, thioester reagerar på plats för att ge de thiol-arter, som syftar till att mildra reaktionen mellan den merkaptan enheter och metall centers, och förbättra kristallisering följaktligen. Specifikt thioester var syntetiseras i en one-pot-procedur: en aromatiska metylbromid (hexabromotriphenylene) reagerade med överflödigt natrium thiomethoxide kraftig villkor att först bilda mellanprodukten thioether. Thioether var sedan demetylerade av den överskjutande thiomethoxide att ge den thiolate anjonen som var acylated att bilda thioester produkten. Thioester renades bekvämt av standard kolonnkromatografi, och sedan används direkt i ramen syntesen, vari NaOH och etylendiamin syftar till att återgå i situ thioester till thiol länkaren för montering i singel-crystalline Pb (II)-dithiolene nätverk. Jämfört med andra metoder för thiol syntes (t.ex., av klyva alkyl thioether använder natrium metall och flytande ammoniak), thioester syntes här använder enkla villkor och ekonomiskt reagenser. Dessutom thioester produkten är stabil och kan bekvämt hanteras och lagras. Viktigare, till skillnad från generiska svårigheten att få tillgång till kristallina metall-thiolate öppna ramar, visar vi att använda thioester för in situ bildandet av tiol länkaren förbättrar avsevärt kristallinitet av den SSD produkt. Vi avser att uppmuntra bredare forskningsinsatser på de tekniskt viktiga metall-svavel ramarna genom att avslöja syntetiska protokollet för thioester samt kristallint fast ramen.

Det IR-spektrumet av HVaTT molekylen (samlade av metoden KBr pellet) har sin starkaste absorption vid 1 700 cm-1, i enlighet med karbonyl sträckningen av gruppen thioester. 1H-NMR spectrumen av HVaTT (400 MHz, CDCl3) avslöjar ett linne på δ 8,47 från de aromatiska hydrogens, tillsammans med 4 multiplets från alifatiska protonsna: δ 8,47 (s, 6 H, röding), 2,75-2.72 (t, J = 7,4, 12 H, CH2), 1,81-1,77 (m, 12 H, CH2), 1,5...
