I dette papir vise vi strategier til at producere vandafvisende overflader på aluminium substrater. Derudover viser vi metoder til at karakterisere deres befugtning egenskaber, ruhed, holdbarhed og anti-Icing ydeevne.

Superhydrophobic (SH) overflader evne til at afvise vand er grunden til at de traditionelt er foreslået som en løsning for at forhindre isdannelse1,2. Der er dog bekymringer om egnetheden af SH overflader for anti-Icing agenter: 1) de høje produktionsomkostninger, 2), at superhydrophobicity ikke altid fører til is-phobicity3og 3) tvivlsom holdbarheden af SH overflader4 . Superhydrophobic overflader holde to egenskaber relateret til deres topografi og kemiske sammensætning5: de er ru, med særlige topografiske egenskaber; og deres overfladeenergi er lav (uløseligt hydrofobe).
Ruhed på en hydrofobe overflade tjener til at mindske forholdet mellem området rigtig fast-flydende og den tilsyneladende kontaktområde. Vandet er ikke fuldt ud i kontakt med solid på grund af lotus effekten6,7når drop hviler eller flytter ind på de overflade asperities. I dette scenario, fast-flydende interface fungerer uensartet med to kemiske domæner: solid overflade, sig selv og de bittesmå luftbobler fanget mellem det faste stof og vand8. Graden af vand frastødning er forbundet med mængden af fanget luft, fordi air patches er glat og dens iboende kontakt vinkel er 180°. Nogle undersøgelser rapport inkorporering af en hierarkisk overfladestruktur med mikro- og nano-asperities som den optimale strategi at give bedre vandafvisende egenskaber (større tilstedeværelse af luft på fast-flydende interface)9. Nogle metaller er en low-cost strategi at oprette to-niveau ruhed funktioner syre-ætsning10,11. Denne procedure er ofte brugt i industrien. Med visse syrestyrke og ætsning gange afslører den metaloverflade ordentlig hierarkisk ruhed. Generelt, er den overflade ryg optimeret ved at variere den syrekoncentration, ætsning tid eller begge12. Overfladeenergi af metaller er høj og af denne grund, fabrikation af vandafvisende metaloverflader kræver senere hydrophobization.
Hydrophobization er generelt opnået ved hydrofobe aflejring ved hjælp af forskellige metoder: silanisering10,13, dip-belægning14, spin-coating15, sprøjtning16 eller plasma-deposition17 . Silanisering har været foreslået18 som en af de mest lovende redskab til en forbedring af lav holdbarheden af SH overflader. I modsætning til andre teknikker, deposition, er silanisering processen baseret på en kovalente bånd mellem Si-OH-grupper med de overflade hydroxylgrupper af metal substrat10. En ulempe ved silanisering proces er behovet for tidligere aktivering af metal underlaget til at skabe nok hydroxylgrupper for en høj grad af dækning og ensartethed. En anden strategi for nylig foreslået at producere resistente superhydrophobic overflader er brugen af sjældne jordarters belægninger19,20. Ceria belægninger har to egenskaber, der begrunder denne anvendelse: de kan være uløseligt hydrofobe21, og de er mekanisk og kemisk robuste. Især er en af de vigtigste grunde til, hvorfor de er valgt som beskyttende belægninger deres korrosionsbeskyttelse evner20.
For at producere langvarig SH metal overflader, betragtes som to spørgsmål: overfladestruktur må ikke beskadiges, og den hydrofobe film/belægning skal være fast forankret til underlaget. Overflader er typisk udsat for at bære stammer af laterale slid eller partikel effekt4. Hvis asperities er beskadiget, kan at water-repellency reduceres væsentligt. Under ekstreme miljøer, hydrofobe belægningen kan være delvis fjernet fra overfladen eller kan være kemisk nedbrydes af UV-eksponering, fugtighed eller korrosion. Design af holdbare SH overfladebelægninger er en vigtig udfordring for belægning og overflade teknik.
Metaller, er en af de mest krævende behov at anti-Icing evne er baseret på tre indbyrdes forbundne aspekter22 , som illustreret i figur 1: subcooled vand frastødning, indefrysning forsinkelsen og lave is-vedhæftning. Udendørs glasur opstår, når subcooled vand, typisk regn dråber, kommer i kontakt med en fast overflade og er hurtigt frosset af heterogene Nukleering23. Den dannede is (rime) er solidt fastgjort til overfladen. Det første skridt til at undgå glasur er således at reducere kontakttid solid-vand. Hvis overfladen er superhydrophobic, kan regndråber blive bortvist fra overfladen før frysning. Endvidere er blevet bevist, at under fugtige forhold, forsinke overflader med en høj kontakt vinkel, frysning mere effektivt end dem med en lav kontakt vinkel24. Af disse to grunde er SH overflader de mest hensigtsmæssige overflader til at afbøde glasur. Levetiden for superhydrophobic overflader kan dog et centralt punkt da isningsrisiko er typisk aggressive25. Nogle undersøgelser har konkluderet, at SH overflader ikke er det bedste valg for faldende is vedhæftning26. Når is formularer på overfladen, det forbliver solidt fastgjort på grund af overflade asperities. Ruhed øger is-overflade kontakt areal og asperities fungere som sikringsanlæg agenter26. Brugen af holdbart SH overflader anbefales at undgå isdannelse, hvis der er ingen spor af is allerede er til stede på overfladen.
I dette arbejde præsenterer vi flere protokoller for at producere holdbart SH overflader på metal substrater. Vi bruger aluminium (Al) som substrat, fordi det er meget udbredt i industrien, og indarbejdelsen af anti-Icing egenskaber er særlig relevant for visse programmer (ski resorts faciliteter, luftfart, osv.). Vi forberede tre typer af overflader: en tekstureret Al overfladen belagt med en fluorpolymer belægning, en tekstureret Al overflade TOT silaniseret med en fluorosilane og en ceria-stearic acid tolagede på et Al substrat. Lignende teknikker17,27,28,29 give 100-300 nm film tykkelser eller endda éncellelag film. For hver overflade, vi målte deres befugtning egenskaber og gennemført slid prøver. Endelig, vi analyseret deres anti-Icing ydeevne ved hjælp af tre prøver har til formål at sonde uafhængigt de tre egenskaber, vist i figur 1.
Vores protokol er baseret på den ordning, der er vist i figur 2. Når SH Al overflader er forberedt, analyseres deres befugtning egenskaber og topografi for at bestemme deres frastødning egenskaber og ruhed funktioner. Egenskaberne befugtning analyseres af hoppende drop eksperimenter, som er en teknik, der er tilsluttet vand trækstyrke vedhæftning. Da observation af drop bounces påkrævet, er denne teknik kun egnet til superhydrophobic overflader13. For hver overflade behandling forberedt vi mindst fire prøver at gennemføre anti-Icing test og en anden fire prøver hen til præstere holdbarhedsprøver. Skader efter hver holdbarhedsprøven blev analyseret ved at måle tabet af fugte egenskaber og ruhed funktioner. Lignende holdbarhed tests til den foreslåede dem i dette arbejde blev for nylig brugt til andre metaloverflader27,30.
Hvad angår anti-Icing tests, formålet med denne undersøgelse er at afgøre, om brugen af de producerede SH Al overflader er praktisk som anti-Icing agenter. Dermed, vi analyseret, til sammenligning, udførelsen af to kontrolprøver: a) en ubehandlet Al prøve (glat hydrofile prøve) og b) en hydrophobized men ikke tekstureret prøve (glat hydrofobe prøve). Til samme formål, brug af en struktureret men ikke hydrophobized overflade kunne være af interesse. Desværre, denne overflade er ekstremt vanddispergerbare og anti-Icing tests kan udføres for dem.

fabrication of superhydrophobic metal surfaces for anti-icing applications

Flere måder at producere superhydrophobic metal overflader er præsenteret i dette arbejde. Aluminium blev valgt som metal underlaget på grund af dens bred anvendelse i industrien. Befugtningen af producerede overfladen blev analyseret af hoppende drop eksperimenter og topografi blev analyseret af Konfokal mikroskopi. Derudover viser vi forskellige metoder til at måle dens holdbarhed og anti-Icing egenskaber. Superhydrophobic overflader har en særlig konsistens, der skal bevares for at holde deres water-repellency. For at fremstille holdbare overflader, fulgte vi to strategier til at indarbejde en resistent tekstur. Den første strategi er en direkte inkorporering af ruhed til metal underlaget af syre ætsning. Efter denne overflade texturization, var den overfladeenergi faldt silanisering eller fluorpolymer deposition. Den anden strategi er væksten i en ceria lag (efter overflade texturization), der skal forbedre den overflade hårdhed og korrosion modstand. Overfladen energi var faldet med en stearinsyre film.
Holdbarheden af superhydrophobic overflader blev undersøgt af en partikel Slagproeve, mekanisk slitage af laterale slid og UV-ozon modstand. Anti-Icing egenskaber blev undersøgt ved at undersøge muligheden for at ophæve subcooled vand, frysning forsinkelse, og is vedhæftning.

Egenskaberne befugtning og ruhed af SH overflader, der blev brugt i denne undersøgelse er vist i figur 5. Det gennemsnitlige antal afvisninger måles for hver prøve vises i figur 5a og den gennemsnitlige ruhed er vist i figur 5b. Der er ingen sammenhæng mellem ruhed og fugte egenskaber.
