We hebben beschreven en komt te staan van een protocol voor de synthese van bulk en kwalitatief hoogwaardige, single kristallijne films van (Mg0.25(1-x)van CoxNi0.25(1-x)Cu0.25(1-x)Zn0.25(1-x)) O (x = 0.20, 0,27, 0,33) en (Mg0.25(1-x) Co0.25(1-x)Ni0.25(1-x)CuxZn0.25(1-x)) O (x = 0.11, 0,27) entropie-gestabiliseerde stikstofoxiden. Sinds de ontdekking van hoge-entropy metaallegeringen in 2004, hebben hoge-entropy materialen aangetrokken van significant belang vanwege de eigenschappen zoals toegenomen hardheid1,2,3, taaiheid4, 5en corrosie weerstand3,6. Onlangs, hoge-entropy stikstofoxiden7,8 en boriden9 hebben ontdekt, een grote speeltuin openstelling voor de enthousiasten van de materiële. Oxiden, in het bijzonder, kunnen aantonen dat nuttig en dynamische functionele eigenschappen zoals ferroelectricity10, magnetoelectricity11,12, thermoelectricity13en supergeleiding14 . Entropie-gestabiliseerde stikstofoxiden (ESOs) is onlangs aangetoond dat het bezitten van interessante, qua samenstelling-afhankelijke functionele eigenschappen15,16, ondanks de significante stoornis, maken van deze nieuwe klasse van materialen bijzonder spannend.
Entropie-gestabiliseerde materialen zijn chemisch homogene, multicomponent (meestal met vijf of meer bestanddelen), Enkelfasige materialen waar de configurationele entropische bijdrage (<img alt="Equation 1" src="/files/ftp_upload/57746/57746eq1.jpg">) om de vrije energie van Gibbs (<img alt="Equation 2" src="/files/ftp_upload/57746/57746eq2.jpg">) is een belangrijke genoeg om te rijden de vorming van één fase solide oplossing17. De synthese van multicomponent ESOs, waar kationische configurationele stoornis wordt waargenomen in alle catie sites, vereist nauwkeurige controle over de samenstelling, de temperatuur, de depositie tarief, quench tarief, en doven temperatuur7,16 . Het doel van deze methode is om de beoefenaar de mogelijkheid voor het synthetiseren van zuivere fase en chemisch homogene entropie-gestabiliseerde oxide keramische korrels en fase pure, één kristallijn, vlakke dunne films van de gewenste stoichiometrie. Stortgoederen kunnen gesynthetiseerd worden met meer dan 90% van theoretische dichtheid waardoor de studie van de structurele, elektronische en magnetische eigenschappen of gebruik als bronnen voor dunne film fysieke vapor deposition (PVD) technieken. Zoals de entropie-gestabiliseerde stikstofoxiden beschouwd hier vijf kationen, dunne film PVD technieken die gebruikmaken van vijf bronnen, zoals moleculaire straal epitaxie (MBE) of mede sputteren hebben, zal worden gepresenteerd met de uitdaging van het neerleggen van chemisch homogene dunne lagen verschuldigde aan de flux drift. Dit protocol resulteert in chemisch homogene, één kristallijn, flat (root-mean-square (RMS) ruwheid van ~0.15 nm) oxide entropie-gestabiliseerde dunne films uit één materiaal bron, die worden weergegeven aan het bezitten van de nominale chemische samenstelling. Dit dunne film synthese protocol kan verbeterd worden door het opnemen van in situ elektron of optische karakterisering technieken voor real-time bewaking van de synthese en verfijnde kwaliteitscontrole. Verwachte beperkingen van deze methode vloeien voort uit de laser energie drift die de dikte van hoge kwaliteitsfilms onder 1 μm kan beperken.
Ondanks de aanzienlijke vooruitgang in de groei en de karakterisering van dunne laag oxide materialen10,18,19,20,21, de correlatie tussen stereochemie en elektronische structuur in stikstofoxiden kan leiden tot aanzienlijke verschillen in het definitieve materiaal als gevolg van schijnbaar onbeduidende methodologische verschillen. Bovendien, het veld van multicomponent entropie-gestabiliseerde stikstofoxiden is nogal ontluikende, met slechts twee rapporten van de huidige van dunne film synthese in de literatuur7,16. ESOs lenen zich bijzonder goed voor dit proces, uitdagingen die zou worden gepresenteerd door chemische damp afzetting en moleculaire straal epitaxie te omzeilen. Hier bieden wij een gedetailleerde synthese-protocol van de onverpakte hoeveelheid en thin films ESOs (Figuur 1), om te minimaliseren van materialen verwerken van moeilijkheden, onbedoelde eigenschap variaties, en de versnelling van de ontdekking op het gebied te verbeteren.

bulk and thin film synthesis of compositionally variant entropy-stabilized oxides

Hier presenteren we een procedure voor de synthese van bulk- en dunne film Ning (Mg0.25(1-x)van CoxNi0.25(1-x)Cu0.25(1-x)Zn0.25(1-x)) O (Co-variant) en (Mg0.25(1-x)Co0.25(1-x)Ni 0.25(1-x) CuxZn0.25(1-x)) O (Cu variant) entropie-gestabiliseerde stikstofoxiden. Fase zuiver en chemisch homogene (Mg0.25(1-x)van CoxNi0.25(1-x)Cu0.25(1-x)Zn0.25(1-x)) O (x = 0.20, 0,27, 0,33) en (Mg0.25(1-x)Co0.25(1-x)Ni0.25(1-x) CuxZn0.25(1-x)) O (x = 0.11, 0,27) keramische korrels worden gesynthetiseerd en gebruikt in de afzetting van ultra-hoge kwaliteit, pure, één kristallijne dunne films van de target stoichiometrie fase. Een gedetailleerde methodologie voor de afzetting van gladde, chemisch homogene en entropie-gestabiliseerde oxide dunne lagen door gepulste laser afzetting op (001)-georiënteerde MgO substraten wordt beschreven. De fase en kristalliniteit van bulk en dunne film materialen worden bevestigd met behulp van röntgendiffractie. Samenstelling en chemische homogeniteit worden bevestigd door de X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy en energie dispersieve x-stralen spectroscopie. De oppervlakte topografie van dunne lagen wordt gemeten met de scanning probe microscopie. De synthese van hoge kwaliteit, één kristallijn, entropie-gestabiliseerde oxide dunne lagen maakt de studie van de interface, de grootte, stam en wanorde effecten op de eigenschappen in deze nieuwe klasse van zeer ongeordende oxide materialen.
