Fordi etablering af passende dyremodeller for humane sygdomme er nøglen til at finde en kur, har passende dyr modeller længe været forfulgt og forbedret over tid. PBL-modellen byder på bekvemmelighed og giver vellykket T-celle engraftment, men dens anvendelse er begrænset på grund af utilstrækkelig B-celle og myeloide celler engraftment, lav engraftment niveauer samlede og udbrud af alvorlige graft - versus - host sygdom (GVHD)3 ,20. SRC musen model betragtes som en letkøbt og pålidelig model for prækliniske små dyr undersøgelser i HIV/AIDS, eksemplificeret ved den konsekvente engraftment menneskelige immunsystem og vellykket hæmatopoietisk udvikling. Vi tidligere rapporteret etableringen af en NSG Hu-SRC-SCID (hu-NSG) musemodel og beskrevet sin ansøgning i HIV replikation og latency undersøgelser22,23,24. Denne hu-NSG musemodel udstiller høje niveauer af knoglemarven homing, modtagelighed for HIV-smitte, og sammenfatning af HIV-infektion og patogenese. Etiske regler og tekniske udfordringer for forskning i menneskelige patologi, immunologi og terapeutisk udvikling har lagt små dyremodeller i høj efterspørgsel. Med en tæt genetiske og adfærdsmæssige lighed med mennesker er små dyr som musen gode kandidater til menneskers sygdomsmodeller, hvorigennem menneske-lignende symptomer og svar kan blive sammenfattet. Yderligere, mus genetiske baggrund kan blive ændret for at imødekomme forskellige krav.
