뇌전도 (EEG)는 기능적 자기 공명 영상 (fMRI), 양전자 방출과 같은 피질 평가 방법에 비해 특히, 피질 처리의 연구에 저렴하고 비침범성 접근을 제공하는 공구입니다 단층 촬영 (PET), 및 확산 텐서 이미징 (DTI)1. 최근 연구에서, 고밀도 EEG는 개발 전반에 걸쳐 가변 CVEP 응답 및 관련 시각적 피질 발생기를 검토하는 것을 목표로, 일반적으로 개발 아이들에 있는 명백한 운동 개시 CVEPs를 측정하기 위하여 이용되었습니다. 참가자는 수동적으로 보기 명백한 운동 자극12,13,14,15,모양 변경 및 운동으로 이루어져, 동시에 등쪽과 복부 스트림을 자극하도록 설계. 아이들의 약 절반이 CVEP 파형 형상, 즉 3개의 피크(P1-N1-P2, 패턴 A)로 구성된 형태로 반응하는 것으로 나타났다.  이러한 형태는 문헌 전반에 걸쳐 관찰된 고전적인 CVEP 반응이다. 대조적으로, 아이들의 나머지 반은 5개의 봉우리 (P1-N1a-P2a-N1b-P2b, 패턴 B)로 구성된 형태학적 패턴으로 제시되었다. 우리의 지식에, 이러한 형태 학적 패턴의 강력한 발생 및 비교는 이전에 어린이 또는 성인 인구 중 CVEP 문헌에서 논의되지 않은, 변수 형태는 명백한 운동과 모두에서 지적되었지만 모션 발병 CVEPs14,16. 더욱이, 이 형태학적 인 다름은 이 측정의 낮은 시간적인 해결책 때문에 fMRI 또는 PET와 같은 그밖 피질 기능 평가 방법을 사용하여 연구에서 명백하지 않았을 것입니다.
CVEP 패턴 A 및 B에서 각 피크의 피질 발생기를 결정하기 위해, CVEP 반응12,13에 관여하는 가장 가능성이 높은 피질 영역을 추정하는 데 사용되는 통계적 접근법인 소스 현지화 분석을 수행했습니다. . 각 피크에 대해, 형태학적 패턴에 관계없이, 1차 및 고차 시각적 코르티지는 CVEP 신호의 소스로서 확인되었다.  따라서, 명백한 운동에 의해 유도된 CVEP 형태학의 근본적인 주요 차이점은 패턴 B를 가진 사람들이 처리 중에 시각적 피질 영역을 추가로 활성화한다는 것입니다. 이러한 유형의 패턴은 문헌에서 이전에 확인되지 않았기 때문에 CVEP 패턴 B를 가진 패턴에서 추가적인 시각적 처리의 목적은 불분명합니다.  따라서, 연구의 이 선에 있는 다음 목표는 차등 CVEP 형태학의 원인및 그 같은 패턴이 전형적인 임상 인구 둘 다에 있는 시각적 행동에 관련될 수 있는지의 원인을 더 잘 이해하는 것입니다.
왜 몇몇 개별이 1개의 CVEP 형태를 보여줄 수 있는지 이해에 있는 첫번째 단계는 이 응답이 본질적으로 본질적인 또는 외적인 인지 결정하기 위한 것입니다.  즉, 개인이 시각적 자극에 반응하여 하나의 패턴을 보여 준다면 모든 자극에 유사한 패턴으로 반응할 것인가?  또는 이 응답이 활성화된 시각적 네트워크 또는 네트워크에 따라 자극에 의존합니까?
이 질문에 답하기 위해 특정 시각적 네트워크를 별도로 활성화하기 위한 두 가지 수동적인 시각적 패러다임이 설계되었습니다. 초기 연구에서 제시된 자극은 등쪽 및 복부 스트림을 동시에 자극하도록 설계되었습니다. 따라서 하나 또는 두 개의 네트워크가 특정 파형 형태를 생성하는 데 관여했는지는 알 수 없습니다. 현재의 방법론적 접근법에서 복부 스트림을 자극하도록 설계된 패러다임은 객체 개시 CVEP를 유도하는 사각형과 원의 기본 모양의 고도로 식별 가능한 개체로 구성됩니다. 등지 스트림을 자극하도록 설계된 패러다임은 고정 지점을 향해 고정 된 속도로 일관된 중앙 점 모션 점의 방사형 필드를 통해 시각적 모션으로 구성되어 모션 발병 CVEP를 유도합니다.
초기 연구 결과로 일어난 두 번째 질문은 차등 VEP 형태가 다가오는 자극13의참가자 기대 때문일 수 있는지 여부였습니다. 예를 들어, 연구는 표적 자극 이전에 발생하는 하향식 피질 진동 활성이 어느 정도17,18,19에대한 후속 CVEP 및 행동 반응을 예측할 수 있음을 보여주었다. 첫 번째 연구에서 명백한 모션 패러다임은 600 ms의 일관된 상호 자극 간격 (ISI)을 가진 방사형 별과 원의 비 무작위 프레임을 사용했습니다.이 디자인은 다가오는 자극에 대한 기대와 예측을 장려했을 수 있습니다. 후속 CVEP 형태에 영향을 미치는 진동 활성12,13,19.
