ToF-SIMS onderscheidt de ionen volgens hun tijd van vlucht tussen twee Scintillators. Al legeringen hebben brede toepassingen in de technische structuren, zoals in mariene technologie of militaire Automotive, toe te schrijven aan hun hoge sterkte-gewicht verhouding, uitstekende vormbaarheid, en weerstand tegen corrosie. Nochtans, is de gelokaliseerde corrosie van al legeringen nog een gemeenschappelijk fenomeen dat hun betrouwbaarheid op lange termijn, duurzaamheid, en integriteit in diverse milieuvoorwaarden beïnvloedt1. Paint coating is de meest voorkomende manier om corrosie te voorkomen. Illustratie van de corrosie ontwikkeld op het raakvlak tussen metaal en verf coating kan inzicht geven in het bepalen van de juiste remedie tegen Corrosiepreventie.
De corrosie van al legeringen kan via verscheidene verschillende wegen plaatsvinden. X-ray fotoelectron spectroscopie (XPS) en scanning elektronenmicroscopie/energie-Dispersive X-Ray spectroscopie (SEM/EDX) zijn twee vaak toegepaste oppervlakte Microanalyse technieken bij het onderzoeken van corrosie. XPS kan elementaire mapping, maar niet een holist moleculaire weergave van het oppervlak chemische informatie2,3, terwijl SEM/EDX biedt morfologische informatie en elementaire mapping, maar met een relatief lage gevoeligheid.
ToF-SIMS is een ander oppervlak gereedschap voor chemische mapping met een hoge massa nauwkeurigheid en zijdelingse resolutie. Het heeft een lage grens van opsporing (LOD) en kan de distributie van de corrosie soorten openbaren die bij de metaal-verf interface worden gevormd. Typisch, SIMS massa resolutie kan bereiken 5000-15000, voldoende om de isobaar ionen te differentiëren4. Met zijn submicron ruimtelijke resolutie kan ToF-SIMS de Metal-Paint interface chemisch imago en karakteriseren. Het biedt niet alleen morfologische informatie, maar ook de laterale verdeling van moleculaire corrosie soorten aan de top paar nanometers van het oppervlak. ToF-SIMS biedt aanvullende informatie aan XPS en SEM/EDX.
Om het vermogen van ToF-SIMS in oppervlakte karakterisering en beeldvorming van de corrosie interface aan te tonen, worden twee geschilderde al legering (7075) Coupons, één blootgesteld aan lucht slechts en aan een zoute oplossing, geanalyseerd (Figuur 1 en Figuur 2). Inzicht in de corrosiegedrag op de metaal-Paint interface blootgesteld aan de zoute toestand is van cruciaal belang om de prestaties van de al-legering in een mariene omgeving te begrijpen, bijvoorbeeld. Het is bekend dat de vorming van al (OH)3 optreedt tijdens al de blootstelling aan zeewater5, maar de studie van al corrosie ontbreekt nog steeds uitgebreide moleculaire identificatie van de corrosie en coating interface. In deze studie worden de fragmenten van al (Oh)3, met inbegrip van al oxyden (b.v., al3o5-) en oxyhydroxide soorten (b.v., al3o6H2-), waargenomen en geïdentificeerd. De vergelijkingen van Sims massaspectra (Figuur 3) en moleculaire beelden (Figuur 4) van de negatieve ionen al3o5- en al3o6H2- bieden de moleculaire bewijs van de corrosieproducten gevormd op de metaal-Paint interface van de zoutoplossing-behandelde al-legering coupon. SIMS biedt de mogelijkheid om de ingewikkelde chemie te verhelderen die zich voordoet bij de metaal verf-interface, die kan helpen licht te werpen op de effectiviteit van oppervlaktebehandelingen in al legeringen. In dit gedetailleerde protocol, demonstreren we deze effectieve aanpak in het indringende de Metal-Paint interface om nieuwe beoefenaren van corrosie onderzoek met behulp van ToF-SIMS te helpen.

Corrosie ontwikkeld op de verf en aluminium (al) Metal-Paint interface van een aluminium legering wordt geanalyseerd met behulp van time-of-Flight secundaire Ion massaspectrometrie (ToF-SIMS), waaruit blijkt dat SIMS is een geschikte techniek om de chemische distributie te bestuderen op een metaal-verf interface. De geschilderde al-legering coupons worden ondergedompeld in een zoutoplossing of blootgesteld aan de lucht alleen. SIMS biedt chemische mapping en 2D moleculaire beeldvorming van de interface, waardoor directe visualisatie van de morfologie van de corrosieproducten gevormd op de metaal-verf-interface en in kaart brengen van de chemische stof na corrosie optreedt. De experimentele procedure van deze methode wordt voorgesteld om technische details te verstrekken om gelijkaardig onderzoek te vergemakkelijken en valkuilen te benadrukken die tijdens dergelijke experimenten kunnen worden ontmoet.

Figuur 3 presenteert de vergelijking van de massaspectra tussen de metaal-Paint interface behandeld met zoutoplossing en de interface blootgesteld aan de lucht. Imaging Corrosion at the Metal-Paint Interface Using Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry

Deze aanpak onthult het corrosieproces op de metaalverfinterface en geeft inzicht in mechanische en chemische veranderingen op de interface met een hoge oppervlaktegevoeligheid. Time-of-flight secundaire ionenmassaspectrometrie, of ToF-SIMS, is een krachtig oppervlaktegereedschap. Het biedt chemische kaarten met een hoge laterale en massaresolutie en maakt effectieve karakterisering mogelijk op de metaalverfinterface.Dus een belangrijke tip die een nieuwe beoefenaar moet weten is om ervoor te zorgen dat het monster niet de extractie kegel aan te raken om mogelijke schade aan het instrument te voorkomen. De visuele demonstratie van deze methode is van cruciaal belang voor onderzoekers die nieuw zijn bij ToF-SIMS en hen zullen helpen met het fundamentele analyseproces. Om te beginnen, laad de voorbereide zout-blootgestelde en lucht-blootgestelde monsters in het instrument belasting blok.Pomp het laadblok naar beneden, breng de monsters naar de hoofdkamer en wacht tot de kamer op of onder 10 is tot de min acht millibars. Dan, de macht van de vloeibare metalen ionen pistool, of LMIG, de analyzer, en de lichtbron. Stel het primaire pistool in als LMIG met het gewenste metaal, bismut, en start de LMIG met behulp van vooraf gedefinieerde spectrometrie.Gebruik vervolgens software of handmatige besturingselementen om de voorbeeldfase naar de Faraday cup te verplaatsen. Vervolgens wordt de ionenstraal automatisch uitgelijnd. Daarna begint u met het meten van de doelstroom op de Faraday cup en selecteer Direct Current.Klik op X Blanking en pas deze aan totdat de doelstroom is gemaximaliseerd. Herhaal vervolgens het proces met Y Blanking. Stop de meting wanneer u klaar bent.Vervolgens, geleid door de weergave door het hoofdkamervenster, langzaam lager het monster stadium totdat de bovenkant van het monster lager is dan de onderkant van de afzuigkegel. Plaats vervolgens het podium onder de kegel, zodat de interfaceassemblage zichtbaar is in de macroweergave in de software. Daarna stelt u het instrument in om negatieve ionen te detecteren.Laad de gewenste analyse-instellingen en activeer de analyzer. Schakel vervolgens over naar de weergave microschaal en stel het rasterveld in op 300 bij 300 micrometer. Stel vervolgens het signaal in op secundaire ionen, de rastergrootte op 128 bij 128 pixels en het rastertype op willekeurig.Pas de secundaire ionenafbeelding van de ROI aan door de voorbeeldfase langzaam verticaal te verplaatsen totdat de afbeelding is gecentreerd op het kruishaar in de Navigator-GUI. Beweeg de joystickhendel niet te snel naar beneden tijdens het aanpassen van de Z-richting, anders raakt de extractiekegel het podium en raakt deze beschadigd. Daarna gebruikt u DC-reiniging om de gouden coating en oppervlakteverontreinigingen te verwijderen.Zodra het monster oppervlak schoon is, inschakelen vergoeding compensatie, en laad de gewenste flood gun instellingen. Richt vervolgens de secundaire ionenafbeelding opnieuw op de ROI. Zodra het is gericht, verhoogt u de reflectorspanning totdat het secundaire ionenbeeld verdwijnt.Verlaag vervolgens de spanning met 20 volt en stop de afstelling. Open vervolgens het massaspectrum in de beeldvensters en geef de ROI van de metaalverfinterface weer. Start een quick scan en stop de scan zodra een spectrum verschijnt.Selecteer vervolgens in het massaspectrumvenster de bekende pieken in het massaspectrum uit de quickscan en vul de formules in. Voeg daarna de pieken van belang toe aan de pieklijst. Open het meetvenster, stel het rastertype in op willekeurig, de grootte op 128 bij 128 pixels en de snelheid op één opname per pixel.Stel het instrument in om 60 scans uit te voeren en begin met de meting. Sla het voltooide spectrum daarna op. Geef vervolgens de ROI-locatie een naam en sla deze op.Verplaats het werkgebied om nieuwe ROI's te zoeken om te analyseren. Laad vervolgens de gewenste sims-beeldinstellingen met hoge resolutie voor de LMIG. Verplaats de monsterfase naar de Faraday-beker en richt de ionenstraal opnieuw uit en focus de weergave.Verplaats vervolgens de fase terug naar de opgeslagen ROI-positie. Pas de reflectorspanning aan, verwerf een snel spectrum en voer massakalibratie uit. Stel vervolgens het rastertype in op willekeurig, de grootte op 256 bij 256 pixels en de snelheid op één opname per pixel.Stel het aantal scans in op 150 en voer de afbeeldingsacquisitie uit. Exporteer de gegevens, verwijder het monster en sluit het instrument af als u klaar bent. Secundaire ionenmassaspectrometrie toonde kleine pieken in aluminiumoxide en oxyhydroxide op de aluminiumverfinterface van een monster dat alleen aan lucht is blootgesteld, wat wijst op milde corrosie.Een met zout water behandeld monster had daarentegen veel grotere pieken en extra oxyhydroxidesoorten. Dit kwam overeen met het met zout water behandelde monster dat meer ernstige corrosie had ervaren dan het monster dat alleen aan lucht werd blootgesteld. 2D moleculaire beelden bevestigen dat de aluminiumoxide en oxyhydroxide soorten waren veel vaker voor in het monster dat was behandeld met zout water.Inzicht in oppervlakteschade en corrosie ontwikkeling is zeer uitdagend. ToF-SIMS is een perfect hulpmiddel voor deze toepassing, zoals geïllustreerd in deze procedure. Naast het bestuderen van het corrosieproces, is ToF-SIMS op grote schaal gebruikt in materiaaloppervlakkenytaktisatie in radiologische, biologische en milieumonsters.Houd er rekening mee dat de instellingen van de massaspectra en beeldverwerving zullen variëren afhankelijk van de soorten LMIG, de resterende levensduur van de LMIG en andere factoren. We illustreren in deze methode dat ToF-SIMS zeer krachtig is in het onthullen van de interfaciale chemie op microschaal en het leveren van chemische mapping met een hoge laterale verdeling en hoge massanauwkeurigheid. ToF-SIMS is een oppervlaktegevoelige techniek.Draag altijd handschoenen en bescherm monsters die u hanteert.
