末梢のエピ腱縫合糸は、腱修復におけるコア縫合強度を高め、腱端の間で叩くリスクを減少させると考えられている。ここでQ縫合は、末梢縫合糸の代替であり、腱修復に使用するために提示される。修復された腱のギャップ形成および引張強度に及ぼす影響を、従来のランニング末梢縫合糸と比較した。ブタ腱の修復には、3本の2本鎖縫合糸と3本の4本鎖縫合糸が使用された。2Qと走る縫合糸に要する時間を記録した。修復された腱を環式負荷試験を行い、その間に2mmの隙間が形成されたサイクル数を決定した。環状荷重の後、腱の端部のギャップサイズと、修復された腱の最終的な強度を測定した。Q縫合糸による増強により、周期的なローディング中に腱端部に2mmのギャップを示す腱の数が減少した。Q縫合糸2本の縫合糸を添加すると、修復された腱の最終的な強度が大幅に増加し、4ストランド縫合糸は腱の修復部位のギャップ距離を減少させた。2Q縫合糸を行う時間は、縫合糸を実行する場合よりも大幅に短かった。従って、Q縫合は引張抵抗力及び腱修復強度を高める上で効率的であり、従来の末梢縫合糸に代わるものとなり得ると結論付ける。
