최근 몇 년 동안 엑소좀이 집중적으로 연구되고 있는 반면, 마이크로베시클은 또한 중요한 생물학적 기능을 가지고 있어 초원심분리 없이 쉽게 추출할 수 있어 기초 및 임상 연구를 촉진한다9. 특히, 순환계와 조직에서 분리된 EV와 관련된 중요한 문제는 EV가 서로 다른 세포 유형에서 유래한다는 것이다10. 마이크로베지클은 원형질막에서 흘러나오고 풍부한 세포 표면 분자9를 특징으로 하기 때문에, 이들 EV의 세포 기원을 식별하기 위해 모 세포막 마커를 사용하는 것이 가능하다. 특히, 유세포 분석(FC) 기술을 적용하여 멤브레인 마커를 검출할 수 있습니다. 또한 연구원들은 EV를 분리하고 기능성 화물을 기반으로 추가 분석을 수행할 수 있습니다.
