骨髄中に存在する単球・マクロファージ系譜細胞が血液単球や組織マクロファージに分化できることが報告されている1,2。上記の細胞は、骨の成長と発達のバランスをとるために破骨細胞に分化することができ、インビボで破骨細胞を誘導する細胞モデルとして一般的に使用されている3,4。骨髄は、骨髄間葉系幹細胞、骨髄単球 - マクロファージ細胞(BMM)、造血幹細胞、内皮細胞、および免疫細胞を含むがこれらに限定されない、いくつかの異なるタイプの細胞を含む特別な組織である。実際、いくつかの以前の研究は、長骨の骨髄腔から突出した付着細胞が骨芽細胞、破骨細胞、軟骨細胞、または脂肪細胞に分化する可能性を示唆した5、6、7、8。異なる均質な細胞集団を作製するために、異なる単離および培養方法が使用されてきたが、様々な異なる細胞型からBMMを単離および培養することには依然として大きな課題がある。
