食糧生産を増やす必要性は、過去数十年にわたって世界中で農薬の集中的かつ広範な使用につながりました。農薬は害虫から作物を保護し、作物の収量を増やすために作物に適用されますが、それらの残留物は通常、土壌環境、特に農業地域に行き着きます1。さらに、有機塩素系農薬(OCP)などの一部の農薬は非常に安定した構造をしているため、残留物は分解しにくく、土壌中に長期間存続します2。一般に、土壌は、特に有機物の含有量が高い場合、残留農薬を蓄積する能力が高い3。その結果、土壌は残留農薬によって最も汚染された環境区画の1つです。一例として、これまでの完全な研究の1つでは、欧州連合全土からの317の農業土壌の83%が1つ以上の残留農薬で汚染されていることがわかりました4。 
残留農薬による土壌汚染は、残留物の毒性が高いため、食物連鎖を通じて非標的種、土壌機能、および消費者の健康に影響を与える可能性があります5,6。したがって、土壌中の残留農薬の評価は、特に農薬の使用に関する厳格な規制がないため、開発途上国において、環境と人間の健康への潜在的な悪影響を評価するために不可欠です7。これにより、農薬の多残留分析がますます重要になっています。しかし、土壌中の残留農薬の迅速かつ正確な分析は、干渉物質の数が多く、これらの分析対象物の低濃度レベルと多様な物理化学的特性のために困難な課題です4。
