In het kader van mijn proefschrift aan het Institute of Electrical Measurement and Sensor Systems werk ik aan het evalueren van het miniaturisatiepotentieel van fotothermische gas- en aerosolsensoren. Er wordt veel moeite gedaan om fotonische sensoren robuuster en veelzijdiger of goedkoper en geminiaturiseerd te maken, maar het is een behoorlijke uitdaging om deze doelen te combineren met de nodige selectiviteit en gevoeligheid. Het grote voordeel van ons protocol komt voort uit de gemakkelijke toegankelijkheid van de methode.
Zonder de noodzaak van een cleanroom of speciale machines, biedt ons protocol de mogelijkheid voor kosteneffectieve prototyping met standaard fotonische apparatuur. We hopen dat ons protocol onderzoekers in staat stelt om snel en eenvoudig prototypes te maken van meerdere etalon-configuraties op een tijd- en kosteneffectieve manier. We zullen blijven werken aan het miniaturiseren van fotonische aerosol- en gassensoren.
We zullen ons richten op nieuwe detectieprincipes door gebruik te maken van de interacties tussen gestructureerd licht en gestructureerde materie.
