Denne studien gir en rask og robust protokoll for isolering av Campylobacter fra matvarer. Det overvinter flere ulemper ved eksisterende metoder og gir fordeler for etterfølgende deteksjon og karakterisering av isolat. Skyllehjelpemidler i felt er ofte 10.000 ganger større enn prøvene som brukes i mattrygghetsdeteksjonsanalyser, for eksempel PCR.
Det er behov for å redusere feilen ved delutvalg for å sikre at resultatene er representative for populasjonen av interesse. Denne protokollen har blitt brukt til å isolere over 50 stammer av Campylobacter, som senere har blitt brukt i genomiske studier. Våre data og analyser bidro til å forstå molekylmekanismene til Campylobacter vertsagenter og horisontal genoverføring.
En slik størrelse vil lette utviklingen av nye terapeutiske strategier for å håndtere Campylobacterosis. Denne protokollen gir mulighet til å redusere delprøvetaking med en faktor på 13 og reduserer også tiden som kreves for å isolere Campylobacter fra rått kjøtt med 24 timer eller innen en åtte timers arbeidsdag. Fremtidige studier kan bruke denne metoden for isolering av Campylobacter, ikke bare fra matvarer, men også fra miljøprøver.
Dette kan bidra til å eliminere falske negative resultater og gi mer nøyaktig kvantifisering av antall forurensede prøver.
