Denna studie ger ett snabbt och robust protokoll för isolering av Campylobacter från livsmedelsprodukter. Det övervinner flera nackdelar med befintliga metoder och erbjuder fördelar för efterföljande detektion och karakterisering av isolat. Sköljhjälpmedel i fält är ofta 10 000 gånger större än de prover som används i analyser för detektion av livsmedelssäkerhet, såsom PCR.
Det finns ett behov av att minska felet i delurvalet för att säkerställa att resultaten är representativa för den population som är av intresse. Detta protokoll har använts för att isolera över 50 stammar av Campylobacter, som sedan har använts i genomiska studier. Våra data och analyser bidrog till att förstå de molekylära mekanismerna för Campylobacter-värdagenter och horisontell genöverföring.
En sådan storlek kommer att underlätta utvecklingen av nya terapeutiska strategier för att hantera Campylobacterosis. Detta protokoll ger möjlighet att minska delprovtagningen med en faktor 13 och minskar också den tid som krävs för att isolera Campylobacter från rått kött med 24 timmar eller inom åtta timmars arbetsdag. Framtida studier kan tillämpa denna metod för isolering av Campylobacter, inte bara från livsmedelsprodukter utan även från miljöprover.
Detta kan hjälpa till att eliminera falskt negativa resultat och ge en mer exakt kvantifiering av antalet kontaminerade prover.
