Jean-Louis Bru is a Ph.D. graduate student in the School of Biological Sciences under the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at University of California, Irvine. He received his undergraduate degree from the same university he is currently attending.
During his undergraduate studies, Jean-Louis focused his research on the mutation of protein L-isoaspartyl methyltransferase (PIMT) in the brain under the mentorship of Dr. Dana Aswad. His motivation and dedication to research earned him the Excellence in Research award. When he started his Ph.D. program, he moved to Dr. Albert Siryaporn's lab to study the bacterial strain Pseudomonas aeruginosa. He received Honorable Mention from the NSF Graduate Research Fellowships Program (GRFP) in 2019.
Jean-Louis Bru now continues his research on P. aeruginosa swarming motility in response to bacteriophage infection and antibiotic treatment.
