Malgorzata Duda is a university professor at the Department of Endocrinology of the Institute of Zoology and Biomedical Research at the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow https://en.uj.edu.pl/en
She studied biology, and graduated 1994 with Diploma in Biology at the Jagiellonian University. She obtained her PhD in 2000 from the UJ, with a thesis on "Morphological and structural characteristics of subpopulations of granulosa cells in the development of porcine ovarian follicles". She habilitated in 2013 on the basis of her scientific achievement entitled: The role of granulosa cells in the function of an ovarian follicle in physiological and disrupted conditions - the primary and organ culture model.
Malgorzata Duda’s scientific interests range from single cell physiology to animal physiology, endocrinology and reproductive biology. She conducts research on the importance of the aromatization process and hormonal balance in the proper functioning of the gonads and the role of steroids and intercellular connections in the regulation of folliculogenesis and oocyte maturation.
Her work has been awarded with several prestigious prizes, among them Jagiellonian University Rector Magnificus Prize for the outstanding scientific activity in 2015 and 2018. She is member of the Polish Society for Reproductive Biology and the Polish Histochemical and Cytochemical Society.
In addition to research, Małgorzata Duda is involved in didactic - she lectures for biology and neurobiology students. She is also involved in pro-quality activities undertaken at UJ, as well as in actions aimed at popularizing science among children and youth during numerous workshops and science festivals.
