Kristof Vandael received his master’s degree in Clinical and Health psychology in 2016 at KU Leuven. From 2016-2018 he was part of the EU Horizon 2020 project ACCOMPLISSH at Ghent University, which investigated co-creation between researchers and societal stakeholders as a means of increasing the impact of research within the Social Sciences and Humanities. Currently he is a PhD candidate at Maastricht University on the NWO vidi project “When the good gets bad…and sticks! Understanding and challenging (the spreading of) pain-related avoidance behavior” supervised by Dr. Ann Meulders. He studies the role of factors such as positive affect and accuracy of perceptual information in attenuating the spread of pain-related avoidance behavior using an associative learning perspective.
