Department of Telematic Engineering
Prof. Dr. Francisco Valera received the Telecommunication Engineering degree in 1998 from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), and the Ph.D. in Telecommunications in 2002 from the Univ. Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where he is currently a tenured associate professor and head of the Telematics Engineering Department. He has also served in the past as director of different programs, including PhD in Telematics program, MsC and different graduates programs. He has been involved in several national and international research projects related with experimental facilities, protocol design, inter-domain routing, protocol engineering, next generation networks and multimedia systems. He has worked as work package and task leader both in technical and management activities. Some of the recent research projects in which he has participated, are: IST 5G-RANGE, IST LEONE, IST Trilogy and Trilogy 2, PASITO (Spanish national project), IST MUSE, IST E-NEXT or IST E-NET. Dr. Valera has published over 60 papers in the field of advanced communications in magazines and conferences. He has also has participated in the scientific committee, organization and technical review in different national and international conferences.
