<p class="jove_content"> Homing is het fenomeen waarbij getransplanteerde hematopoietische cellen zijn in staat om te reizen naar en inenten of verblijf in het beenmerg vast te stellen. Verschillende chemomkines en receptoren betrokken zijn bij de homing van hematopoietische stamcellen. [1, 2] </p><p class="jove_content"> Dit document schetst de klassieke homing protocol dat wordt gebruikt in hematopoietische stamcellen studies. In het algemeen gaat het om het isoleren van de celpopulatie die homing dient te worden onderzocht, vlekken deze populatie met een kleurstof van belang en het injecteren van deze cellen in de bloedbaan van een ontvanger dier. De ontvanger dier wordt dan opgeofferd op een vooraf bepaalde tijd na de injectie en het beenmerg geëvalueerd voor het percentage of absolute aantal cellen die positief zijn voor de kleurstof van belang. In een van de meest voorkomende experimentele regelingen, het homing efficiëntie van hematopoietische cellen van twee genetisch verschillende dieren (een wild-type dier en de bijbehorende knock-out) wordt vergeleken. Dit artikel beschrijft de hematopoietische cellen homing-protocol in het kader van, zoals experiment. </p>
