<p class="jove_content"> Over het algemeen is er een groot deel van de voorbereiding en planning die nodig zijn voor dit type van bemonstering, zodat de begroting 2 dagen voor de reis naar achteraf dingen in orde zijn en een dag voor het reinigen van alles op. In het algemeen, laat zout water in contact komt met de peristaltische pomp of in de aluminium Zarges box gebruikt om het veld materiaal te vervoeren. Behandel het materiaal met respect en het zal goed presteren voor een lange tijd te komen. </p>

<p class="jove_content">Deze video documenten methoden voor het verzamelen van kust-zee watermonsters en de behandeling daarvan voor verschillende downstream-toepassingen, waaronder biomassa-concentratie, nucleïnezuur zuivering, cel overvloed, nutriënten-en trace gas analyses. Voor de demonstratie van vandaag monsters werden verzameld vanaf het dek van de HMS John Strickland die actief zijn in Saanich Inlet. Een A-frame Derrick, met een multi-purpose lier en kabel-systeem wordt gebruikt in combinatie met Niskin of Go-Flo flessen water sampling. Geleidbaarheid, temperatuur en diepte (CTD) sensoren worden ook gebruikt om de onderliggende watermassa monster. Te minimaliseren outgassing, zijn sporen gas monsters eerst verzameld. Vervolgens worden voedingsstoffen, water chemie, en de cellen bepaald. Tot slot worden de wateren verzameld voor biomassa filtratie. De set-up en het verzamelen voor een enkele cast is ~ 1,5 uur bij een maximale diepte van 215 meter. Daarom is een totaal van zes uur over het algemeen nodig is om de collectie serie hier beschreven compleet.</p>
