Objektifi, optik fincan [1,2] gelişiminde önemli bir rol oynar. Bir model organizma olarak zebrafish kullanılması, objektif gelişimi ile ilgili sorular ele alınabilir. Zebrafish dahil olmak üzere birçok avantajlı özellikleri, küçük boyutu, yüksek fekondite, kısa bir yaşam döngüsü, ve bakım kolaylığı nedeniyle genetik çalışmalar için yararlıdır.
