heterotopic and orthotopic tracheal transplantation in mice used as models to study the development of  obliterative airway disease

Obliterans luchtwegen ziekte (OAD) is de belangrijkste complicatie na longtransplantaties die lange termijn overleving (1-7) grenzen. De studie van de pathofysiologie, zijn behandeling en preventie van OAD, verschillende diermodellen van tracheale transplantatie in knaagdieren ontwikkeld (1-7). Hier gebruiken we twee bestaande modellen van luchtpijp transplantatie, de heterotope en orthotope model en blijk geven van hun voordelen en beperkingen. Voor de heterotope model, is de donor luchtpijp verpakt in de grotere omentum van de ontvanger, terwijl de donor luchtpijp wordt geanastomoseerd door de end-to-end anastomose in de orthotope model. In beide modellen, heeft de ontwikkeling van obliteratieve laesies histologische overeenkomend met klinische OAD aangetoond (1-7). Deze video laat zien hoe uit te voeren zowel de heterotope evenals de orthotope tracheale transplantatie techniek in muizen, en vergelijkt het tijdsverloop van OAD ontwikkeling in zowel modellen met histologie.
