<p class="jove_content">Anterior cervikal discectomy och fusion (ACDF) är den vanligaste kirurgiska ingreppet för livmoderhalscancer radiculopathy och / eller myelopati hos patienter som har misslyckats med konservativ behandling<sup&gt; 1,5</sup&gt;. Sedan operationen beskrevs först av Cloward<sup&gt; 2</sup&gt; Och Smith och Robinson<sup&gt; 6</sup&gt; 1958 har en mängd förbättringar i teknik, transplantat material och implantat gjorts<sup&gt; 3</sup&gt;. Framför allt finns det ett behov för säker osteoinduktivt agenter som skulle kunna gynna utvalda patienter. Får-modellen har visat sig ha anatomiska, biomekaniska, bentäthet och radiologiska egenskaper som liknar den mänskliga motsvarighet, den mest liknande nivå som C3 / 4<sup&gt; 4</sup&gt;. Det är därför en idealisk modell där prekliniska studier kan utföras. I synnerhet denna metod kan vara användbar för forskare intresserade av att utvärdera olika enheter och biologiska läkemedel, inklusive stamceller, för potentiella tillämpning i människans ryggkirurgi.</p>
