De kritische stappen van deze procedure zijn een goede reiniging en voorbereiding van de muis voorafgaand aan de ingreep te overleven. Wanneer een telemeter en de muis operatieve site goed worden schoongemaakt, is er een veel betere postoperatieve uitkomst. Daarnaast veel aandacht voor plaatsing leiden vermindert de post-operatieve huid erosie. Telemetrische ECG-opname in muizen is essentieel voor het begrijpen van de mechanismen achter ritmestoornissen, geleidingsstoornissen en plotselinge hartdood. Hoewel het oppervlakte-ECG wordt gebruikt voor de korte termijn metingen van golfvorm intervallen, is het niet praktisch voor de lange termijn studies van de hartslag variabiliteit of het vangen van zeldzame afleveringen van aritmieën. Implanteerbare ECG telemeters bieden de voordelen van een eenvoudige chirurgische implantatie, op lange termijn opname van elektrogrammen in ambulante muizen, en schaalbaarheid met gelijktijdige opnames van meerdere dieren. Hier geven we een stap-voor-stap handleiding voor de implantatie van telemeters voor ambulante ECG-opname in muizen. Zorgvuldige naleving van de aseptische techniek is vereist voor een gunstige resultaten te overleven met de mogelijkheid van implantatie en opnemen van weken tot maanden. Zo, implanteerbare ECG telemetrie is een waardevol instrument voor het opsporen van kritische informatie op de cardiale elektrofysiologie bij ambulante diermodellen zoals de muis.
