נחיל של δ-proteobacterium Myxococcus xanthus מכיל מיליוני תאים לפעול כתנועה, תיאום הקולקטיבי באמצעות סדרה של אותות כדי ליצור מורכבות, דפוסי דינמי כתגובה לאותות סביבתיים. דפוסים אלה מארגנים עצמית ו מתהווה, הם לא ניתן לחזות על ידי התבוננות בהתנהגות של תאים בודדים. באמצעות זמן לשגות מעקב assay microcinematography, זיהינו דפוס מתהווה נפרדות מ xanthus בשם chemotaxis, כהגדרתו התנועה מכוונת של נחיל את שיפוע מזין כלפי מקורו 1. כדי לאפיין ביעילות chemotaxis דרך microcinematography זמן לשגות, פיתחנו מורכב מאוד לשינוי צלחת (איור 1) ונבנה מקבץ של 8 מיקרוסקופים (איור 2), שכל אחד מהם מסוגל זמן לשגות לכידת וידאו. Assay הוא קפדני מספיק כדי לאפשר שכפול עקבי של נתונים מדידים, ואת קטעי וידאו וכתוצאה מכך מאפשרים לנו להתבונן ולעקוב אחר שינויים עדינים התנהגות נחיל. לאחר שנתפסו, קטעי וידאו המועברים למחשב ניתוח / אחסון עם מספיק זיכרון כדי תהליך ולאחסן אלפי קטעי וידאו. הגמישות של התקנה הזאת הוכיחה שימושי כמה מחברי מ xanthus הקהילה.
