Experimentelle Metastasen Mausmodell ist eine einfache und dennoch physiologisch relevanten Metastasen-Modell. Die Tumorzellen werden intravenös (iv) in Maus-tail Venen gespritzt und besiedeln in der Lunge und damit, ähnlich wie die letzten Schritte der Metastasierung von Tumorzellen spontan: Überleben in der Zirkulation, Extravasation und Kolonialisierung in den distalen Organen. Aus therapeutischer Sicht ist die experimentelle Metastasierung Modell die einfachste und ideale Modell, da das Ziel der Therapien ist oft der Endpunkt der Metastasierung: etablierte metastasierten Tumor in der distalen Orgel. In diesem Modell werden Tumorzellen iv injiziert Maus Schwanzvenen und erlaubt zu kolonisieren und in der Lunge wachsen. Tumor-spezifische CTLs werden dann iv in den Metastasen tragenden Maus injiziert. Die Anzahl und Größe der Lungenmetastasen kann durch die Anzahl der Tumorzellen injiziert werden und die Zeit des Tumorwachstums gesteuert werden. Deshalb verschiedenen Stadien der Metastasierung, von minimal Metastasen zu ausgedehnter Metastasierung, werden modelliert. Lungenmetastasen werden durch die Inflation mit Tinte analysiert, so dass einfacher visueller Beobachtung und Quantifizierung.
