Bizim görsel deneyim retinal fotoreseptör görsel pigment fotonlar, ışık enerjisini emer ve hücre zarı siklik nükleotid kapılı kanallar kapatılmasına yol açan hücre içi olaylar zincirini başlatır zaman başlatılır. Membran potansiyeli ortaya çıkan değişiklik çubuk ve koni sinaptik terminalleri hem de nörotransmitter serbest miktarda azalma sırayla açar. Fotoreseptör membran potansiyeli ışık uyarılmış değişiklik retinada aşağı aktiviteye yol açar nasıl ölçmek için, bilim adamları onlarca yıl 1,2 retina dilim hazırlıkları elektrofizyolojik kayıtlar yaptık. Geçmişte bu dilimleri elle filtre kağıdı bağlı retina dokusunun bir jiletle kesilmiş; son yıllarda dilimleme başka bir yöntem, retina dokusunun düşük jelleşme sıcaklığı agar sayede gömülü geliştirilmiştir ve soğuk çözüm dilimlenmiş mikrotom titreşimli 3,4. Bu preparat ile retina dilimleri daha az yüzey hasarı ve çok sağlam bir ışık uyarılmış yanıtlar üretir. Burada bu yordamı görsel pigment beyazlatma önlemek için kızıl ötesi ışık altında nasıl yapılacağı belge.
