Renat Wolbachia leva vidare i det extracellulära fasen, men inte kopiera till dess att inokuleras i eukaryota celler. Extracellulära Wolbachia renas på detta sätt kommer att vara genomförbara för minst en vecka i rumstemperatur, och eventuellt längre. Renat Wolbachia är lämpliga för mikroinjektion, DNA-extraktion och andra applikationer.
