Dit protocol beschrijft een eenvoudige benadering voor lijm-tape-gebaseerde steekproef van tomaten en andere verse producten oppervlakken, gevolgd door on-tape fluorescentie in situ hybridisatie (FISH) voor snelle cultuur-onafhankelijke detectie van Salmonella spp. Cell-tapes opgeladen kan ook het gezicht naar beneden worden geplaatst op selectieve agar voor vaste-fase verrijking voorafgaand aan de detectie. Als alternatief kan een laag-volume vloeistof verrijkingen (vloeistofoppervlak miniculture) worden uitgevoerd op het oppervlak van de tape in niet-selectieve bouillon, gevolgd door FISH en analyse via flowcytometrie. Om te beginnen, steriele zelfklevende tape is in contact gebracht met verse producten, wordt lichte druk toegepast, en de tape is verwijderd, fysiek extraheren microben aanwezig zijn op deze oppervlakken.
